Technical
and Historical Notes
The Nazca class is ZAFT's latest model battleship. This new class of ship is faster than the Earth Alliance's new Archangel class. It is also heavily armed with beam cannons, railguns, and CIWS vulcan guns. The Nazca class also includes an internal hangar with space for up to 6 mobile suits. In the postwar period leading up the second Earth/ZAFT war, the Nazca class is produced in greater numbers to begin replacing the older Laurasia class. In C.E. 73, one Nazca class ship is secretly refit into a defensive system called the "Neutron Stampeder." When fired, the Neutron Stampeder causes nuclear weapons to detonate prematurely by controlling the neutrons inside them and setting off a fission reaction. The Neutron Stampeder is used to successfully protect the PLANTs from the Earth Alliance's nuclear attack following the "Break the World" incident in October C.E. 73.
