Technical and Historical Notes
ZAFT's Petrie class land battleship is deployed across Earth to achieve military supremacy on the ground. Although smaller than the Lesseps class, these battleships are still effective against ground targets. Like the Lesseps class, the Petrie class uses a scale propulsion system to liquefy sand and sail across the desert. The Petrie class' armaments include six cannons, and most of its mobile suits are stored on the deck. In C.E. 71, North African commander Andrew Waltfeld uses the Petrie and Henry Carter in an assault on the Earth Alliance battleship Archangeland the Desert Dawn guerillas. In late C.E. 73, the battleship Bagley assists the Minervain attacking the Alliance's Middle Eastern base in the Gulnahan ravine.
