Eureka Seven
Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven is a mecha franchise that premiered with a 50 episode TV series in 2005. It tells the story of 14-year-old Renton Thurston and his adventures with the anti-government group Gekkostate, as well as his unraveling of the mysteries surrounding one of Gekkostate's pilots, Eureka. After joining Gekkostate, Renton becomes the pilot of its main LFO, the enigmatic Nirvash typeZERO. Produced by BONES, written by Dai Sato (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and directed by Tomoki Kyoda (RahXephon), the show is heavily inspired by American music and surfer culture. A movie retelling of the original series, Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows was released in 2009. The original TV series and movie were released in the U.S. by Bandai Entertainment, but are now out of print. A new TV series, Eureka Seven AO, aired in Japan in 2012 and has been licensed for U.S. release by FUNimation.
