Episode 32: Dangerous Trap! Neros Gundam Strikes Back

Review by Chris Guanche

July 26, 2001

Summary

Dr. Mikamura tells Karato that contact has been lost with the team sent to the Guiana Highlands to collect the remains of the Devil Gundam. At night, several helicopters fly a gigantic cargo container over the city. Wong tells Master Asia it's what they've been waiting for. Domon and Rain both have a bad feeling about the container. Later, Domon is engaged in a Gundam Fight with Neo Kenya's Zebra Gundam. The Zebra Gundam jumps into the air to use the sun to blind Domon. The God Gundam jumps in the air and gets grabbed by the Zebra Gundam. Domon breaks off both of the Zebra Gundam's arms and wins the match with the Bakunetsu God Finger. Allenby watches the fight on TV and isn't surprised that she lost to Domon with his kind of skills. Behind her she hears several Gundam Fighters complaining about Domon, including Marcelot, Shijiema and Romario. Michelo arrives and offers them revenge against Domon. Allenby follows them to a fancy Chinese restaurant, and she overhears Neo Spain's Carlos Andalusia refuse to participate in Michelo's plans. Domon gets a phone call from Carlos, and he goes to his home with Allenby. The house suddenly explodes, and Carlos is taken to the hospital. Domon sees Michelo and chases him into a dark building, where they fight on scaffolds. Michelo tests out his new final move, the Rainbow Shadowless Kick. He runs away, and Allenby wonders if he was responsible for the explosion. She tells Domon about the restaurant, and he goes to ask the bartender questions. The bartender has his goon attack Domon, and Domon easily beats him. The mouth of a large decorative dragon opens, and Wong steps out of it.

Domon and Allenby go up to Wong's apartment to talk. Wong talks about Domon's past and his entry to the Gundam Fight. He mentions the Guiana Highlands and asks Domon if he met his brother there. Domon wants to know why disqualified Fighters like Michelo and Chapman are in the Finals. Wong says he can't talk about other countries, and that Domon should defeat Michelo and ask himself. Later, Chibodee and the girls take a joyride through a tunnel, where Romario tries to dump logs on them from a truck. Their car crashes into the side of the road, and Chibodee wonders if it was an accident or not. The next morning, Chibodee hears from Sai Saici, George and Argo that they were all attacked too. Someone threw a steel beam at George; Shijiema tried to push Sai Saici into the path of a bus; and someone else planted a bomb in Neo Russia's headquarters to kill Argo. Schwarz appears and says that the mastermind behind the Gundam Fight is finally showing himself. Domon begins his fight with Michelo, and he finds that Michelo's abilities have improved. Allenby tells Domon to look for a weak spot, and Michelo makes the mistake of getting his claw stuck in the ground. Domon destroys the Neros Gundam's head, and a large explosion covers the area with black smoke. Michelo reappears in the flying Gundam Heaven's Sword, which attacked Domon on the way to the Finals. It seems to be winning, but Domon uses the Bakunetsu God Finger to destroy it. When the smoke clears, Domon sees Michelo on the ground near the Neros Gundam, and Michelo is taken to the hospital. Wong isn't surprised that Michelo wasn't able to beat Domon. He and Master Asia take an elevator underground to a secret chamber. The cargo container is opened, and inside are the remains of the Devil Gundam. Wong tells Master Asia that he will use the Devil Gundam to become the ruler of the galaxy.

Commentary

Finally, we get all the plot points picked up that were left dangling from the Guiana arc. Wong is definitely evil, since he wants to use the Devil Gundam to rule the galaxy. I wonder if he serves the Devil Gundam of his own free will like Master Asia. Michelo certainly serves the Devil Gundam, but he showed no signs of having DG cells. I am surprised that so many Gundam Fighters from past episodes are showing up, and they all have a grudge with Domon. Except for Carlos, whose battle with Domon we never saw on screen. Now that the Devil Gundam is back, it looks like things might get interesting again.
