SD Gundam Sangokuden: Brave Battle Warriors
The classic 14th century Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong has been adapted multiple times in Japanese media, serving as the basis for anime like Ikkitousen and and video games like Dynasty Warriors. The 2010 series SD Gundam Sangokuden: Brave Battle Warriors jumps on that bandwagon by combining the classic story with SD Gundam designs. Directed by Kenichi Suzuki (Gundam Evolve) and Kunihiko Mori (The Mars Daybreak), the series is based on the BB Senshi model kit line featuring the same characters. Multiple factions vie for control of the ancient land of Mirisha, but a band of heroes gathers around the warrior Liu Bei to fight for justice. Brave Battle Warriors is the second SD TV series, but unlike SD Gundam Force, its episodes are only half length. The series has aired in Japan, but is not available in the U.S. Please note that these reviews use the original Chinese names, not the Japanese ones found on the model kits.
