Summary

Shute sits at the table with Keiko and his baby sister Nana. Captain asks Shute why he's frustrated, and Shute explains that Keiko is making him write an essay on friendship for school. Keiko tells Shute that he shouldn't have any problem with that since he has a lot of friends. Shute sees what she means and asks Captain for help, and Captain wants him to explain what friendship is. Shute explains that friends are people who get along well. Shute says that friends hang out and laugh, and Captain performs a terrible laugh. Bakunetsumaru steps in and says it is a bond between warriors. Zero then steps in and says friendship is about heart. He conjures roses that appear on the tips of Bakunetsumaru's swords. In the Dark Axis dimension, Commander punishes Zapper, Grappler and Destroyer by blasting them with his funnels. Zapper blames his failures on having to work with Grappler, and Grappler says that Zaku is all talk. Zapper asks Destroyer to back him up, but Destroyer doesn't know what he's talking about. Commander blasts them all again and tells them the reason they fail is because they can't work together. He tells them they have to work together to destroy the Gundams or be destroyed. Grappler decides they should make a signature move: the Dark Axis Rainbow Doom Boom. A Zako dressed as Captain fakes an attack, and they blast him. Next, several other Zakos hold up another one with a fishing rod who is pretending to be Zero. They blast him, along with another one pretending to be Bakunetsumaru. Having practiced their team moves, they load the Komusai up with explosives and fly through the Zakrello Gate to Neotopia. They crash near a factory and start blasting things to get attention. Captain receives a call from the SDG, and he flies up to his re-equip ring. After changing parts, he docks with Gunbike and joins the others as they head for the factory.

Captain slices at Zapper and spouts out his line about firearms. Zapper says that Captain will be taking on all of them, but then Zero and Bakunetsumaru make their entrances. Zapper and the others panic because they didn't expect to fight all three Gundams at once. Grappler says they will take everyone on one at a time. Destroyer blasts at Captain, and Captain informs Destroyer that he left his bazooka's safety on. Zero pulls out his buster sword and puts up a shield to block Zapper's attacks. Grappler pulls out a detonator to blow up the Komusai, but he is interrupted by Bakunetsumaru. They both attack each other and reach a standstill. Grappler says that the first person who moves and drops his guard loses. Destroyer keeps missing, and Captain tells him that his gun sight is off by ten degrees. Destroyer tries to fire, but Captain kicks him away. Zero uses his Super Magical Violet Tornado and blasts Zapper away. Grappler decides he doesn't want to wait anymore and moves. While he is distracted, Bakunetsumaru slashes him and knocks him away. Shute congratulates them for a good job, but the Komusai appears. Zapper, Zero and Destroyer say they aren't done and prepare to use the Dark Axis Rainbow Doom Boom. In response, the Gundams use a triple attack that sends the Komusai flying away. Zapper accidentally presses the bomb detonator, which blows up the Komusai. As they walk home, Chute decides he will write his essay on the Gundam Force's battle. Captain reminds him that the Gundam Force is a secret, and Shute realizes he has to start his essay all over again.

Commentary

This episode is pretty much the same old pattern we've been seeing up to now. Commander punishes his minions for failing against the Gundams, and they try to develop a super robot signature move. However, the Gundams do the same and win yet again. At this rate, it won't be long before Tallgeese shows up since these guys keep screwing up. Also, is it just me or do nearly all the battles keep taking place in the same industrial areas? Why don't we actually see any cityscape? The whole cartoon moral in this episode seems to be that if you work together with your friends you can accomplish anything. How exciting. Finally, it should be noted that this episode doesn't have the Zako Zako Hour tacked on at the end.
