 SD Gundam Force Whereas previous entries in the SD Gundam franchise were parodies of the earlier Universal Century series, SD Gundam Force takes a different approach. Directed by Yuuichi Abe, this series is aimed at children and tells the story of the bungling Dark Axis, which has come from another dimension to invade the peaceful land of Neotopia. However, Neotopia is guarded by a boy named Shute and the Super Dimensional Guard's Gundam Force. SD Gundam Force is the first Gundam series to use 3D cel-shaded animation, as seen in many recent video games. In another first, the first season aired in America before Japan. The first season has completed its broadcast on Cartoon Network's Toonami block and is now available on DVD. The second season has finished airing in Japan, but no U.S. broadcast date has been set yet.
