Part
1: The Rolling Colony Affair
At
the Shuraku colony, Bright takes people's tickets as they enter
to see the show. Char heads over in his Musai and realizes
he forgot his opera viewing glasses. Scirocco shows up and asks
Bright to let him in for free, but Bright refuses. Scirocco continues
to bother him, so Bright kicks him away and sends him crashing into
Char's car. Scirocco asks Char for money, and Char thinks he is
rude for damaging his car and asking for money. Scirocco tries to
clean Char's windshield, and Char tells him to get away. Char asks
him if he has opera glasses, and Scirocco sells him a pair. Scirocco
now has money to get in, but several mobile suits fly by and rob
him. Inside, Amuro tries to calm down Gundam because it's getting
too excited. Leina tries to do the same with Judau, and Double Zeta
is embarrassed. Lalah begins the show, and various dead Gundam
girls begin performing the 'Boppin' song. Double Zeta starts
to get very excited and wants all the girls to get naked. An embarrassed
Gundam gives Lalah a bouquet of flowers, and Double Zeta grabs hold
of naked Ple. Messala gets angry and knocks Double Zeta out of the
colony. Gundam gets too excited being near Lalah and starts bouncing
around the theatre until it gets knocked out of the colony too.
Scirocco gets smacked around as everyone gets sucked into space.
The colony begins spinning out of control and heads for Earth with
Amuro and Char trapped inside. In space, Messala finds Double Zeta
and they begin attacking each other with land mines and weights.
Messala tickles Double Zeta and then shoves an enema up its butt.
Scirocco gets stuck on the exterior of the colony and asks for help.
Nu Gundam shows up to help, but Scirocco makes the mistake of calling
it an old man. Scirocco says he is the old man, but Nu Gundam keeps
laughing and taunting him. Nu Gundam stops the colony from moving
but gets its hand stuck in the colony wall. Amuro and Char blast
their way out with a bazooka as the colony enters Earth's atmosphere.
The colony crashes and begins rolling after Char, Amuro and Scirocco
as they run around Earth. Woody pauses the action and asks a panel
what will happen. The colony bounces into the Statue of Liberty
in New York City and flies back into space. Amuro, Char and Scirocco
then start bashing each other with bones as apes with the Statue
of Liberty behind them.
Part
2: Gundam Legend
In
the peaceful Zeta Kingdom, Great Devil Char kidnaps the Princess,
which causes darkness to fall over the kingdom. At the Zeta Palace,
King Degwin summons a party of three heroes: Amuro the Swordsman,
Kamille the Magician and Judau the Petty Thief. He asks them to
rescue the Princess from Great Devil Char and restore light to the
Zeta Kingdom. Amuro asks if that is Devil Char who lives on Mt.
Zeon, and Degwin says that he powered up by adding 'Great' to his
name. The three heroes decide to leave, and Degwin pulls out a guillotine
and threatens to execute them if they don't do what he says. He
gives them a secret box which contains three Guardian Gods that
can only be used when the Zeta Kingdom is in trouble. They set out
on the quest and encounter an army of Zakus in the desert. Kamille
tells them they are all cannon fodder mecha and that he knows how
they can power up. He gives them Commander Type antennas and tells
them to drink red wine so that their bodies become red. The Zakus
drink the wine and fall down drunk. Mirai comes and gives them a
coin they can use to summon a Guardian God. As they continue, they
are attacked by Zaku II Commander Type. They summon the Guardian
God, which is a capsule containing Gundam. Gundam pulls out a beam
saber stop sign to make Zaku stop, but it crashes into Kamille and
sends him to the stars. Judau calls Zaku a murderer, and Zaku tries
to commit suicide with its heat hawk. A patrol wagon comes to pick
up Zaku, and Amuro and Judau are given White Base to summon
Kamille and recover their HP on the road. In an icy environment
they encounter a skating Dom, but they ignore it to watch Sayla
skate. Dom falls into the frozen water while trying to attack, and
Amuro grinds it up into shaved ice treats to make money. The next
boss is Zeong, which attacks with lightning. Amuro summons Zeta
Gundam, but it gets toasted by Zeong. He summons Double Zeta, but
it can't fully transform. It uses a mirror to deflect Zeong's attacks
and defeat it. The last boss is Sazabi, which holds the key to Mt.
Zeon. Sazabi hides in a shell, and Zakrello comes and eats it. Kamille
uses his magic to make Zakrello spit out the key. They use Zeong's
head to fly up to the floating Mt. Zeon and confront Great Devil
Char. Amuro sticks the key in Char's mouth to use him as an entrance.
They find the Princess wearing an evil Baund Doc mask and pop their
heads out to make it fall apart. They all want her to marry them,
but she reveals that she already has a fiance: Cheimin Noa. They
don't understand because Cheimin is a girl, and the Princess lifts
her skirt and reveals she's a man. Disgusted, they return to Mt.
Zeon and force Great Devil Char to work as their slave.
This
second SD OVA is even wackier than the first. The first part features
some funny antics with Scirocco and picks up on the name mispronunciation
joke from Mk. I. The end piece with Amuro, Char and Scirocco as
apes parodies both Planet of the Apes and 2001: A Space
Odyssey. The second part is equally wacky, since it is a spoof
of classic role playing games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior.
We have our standard 1980's RPG party of warrior, magician and thief
setting out on an epic quest to rescue a princess from an evil villain.
Thankfully, no classic RPG ever had male princesses. The parody
goes far enough to feature bosses and display the enemy's hit points
on screen. This OVA may be crazy, but it's good fun.
