 Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Announced for Gundam's 30th anniversary in 2009, the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn OVA series marks the first time in Gundam history that an anime has been adapted from a pre-existing work. Based on the novels of the same name by Harutoshi Fukui, Gundam Unicorn is set in UC 0096, three years after the events of Char's Counterattack. Directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Rurouni Kenshin), the series stars Banagher Links, a young engineering student from Side 4 who is drawn into a series of events involving the mysterious Unicorn Gundam. The Unicorn Gundam is connected to Laplace's Box, a secret item dating back to the dawn of the Universal Century. The production of Gundam Unicorn marks the first non-CG Universal Century OVA series since the release of The 08th M.S. Team in 1996. Bandai has planned a simultaneous worldwide release for the series, including DVD, Blu-ray and the Japanese PlayStation Network. The first volume of Unicorn is now available, with the second set for release in Fall 2010.
