Duker's
Lysithea hides underneath a ruined oil rig while repairs
are made. Renda sketches a drawing of a log cabin, and Duker asks
to look at it. Renda explains that she wants to build that house
on Earth after the war ends. Duker asks if the house has enough
room for him to live in, and Renda thinks he's making fun of her.
Duker tells her he is serious and that he wants to live with her
because he's tired of being alone. He gives her a necklace that
his mother gave him when he joined military school. Elsewhere, Uso,
Marbet and Odelo patrol the ocean, but Marbet doesn't feel too well.
Uso and Odelo tell her they can handle patrol and that she should
return to the ship until she recovers. Odelo tells Uso that women
don't feel well once every month, and Elischa grabs Odelo. He suddenly
suggests to Uso that they should split up and flies off. He lands
on a ruined oil tanker and drinks coffee with Elischa. He wants
to tell her something privately, but she interrupts him when she
spots Renda's Domuttlia and Twinrad nearby. Renda spots them and
has her Jabacos attack immediately. Renda wants revenge for Cecily's
death, and Odelo gives Elischa a necklace. Odelo fires missiles
and his beam rifle, but he ends up hitting the oil tanker and blows
it up. In the confusion Odelo escapes and hides inside another ruined
tanker nearby. Elischa smells gas in the air and realizes that the
smallest spark could set off an explosion. Uso joins the fight,
and Marbet launches in her Victory Gundam despite her illness. Tomache
and Uso attack the Twinrads, and Marbet tells them to get behind
the White Ark's beam shield. Martina worries about Elischa
and wants to find her, but Warren tells her not to worry. As the
battle continues, Uso searches the ocean for signs of any enemies.
The Lysithea emerges from the ocean and flies up into the
air in front of him.
The
Lysithea surfaces and fires missiles, but the White
Ark blocks with its beam shield. The White Ark fires
back its own missiles as well as its mega particle gun. Duker fires
out missiles armed with his spider nets, and Warren uses the White
Ark's beam shield to cut apart one of them. However, he lowers
the beam shield to fire missiles and is caught by the second spider
net. The electric spider net damages the White Ark's circuitry
and causes the ship to crash on a nearby island. Uso uses his beam
shield in reverse to split the ocean and blind Renda. A Jabaco attacks
Marbet and repeatedly punches her Victory Gundam. Uso can't hold
out for long, and Tomache flies out to back him up. Renda attacks
him from behind and knocks him away, which is what he planned for.
The water rushes around and creates a wave that pushes the White
Ark back. The Lysithea drives over the island and
returns to the ocean on the other side. Nearby, Odelo uses his Gunblastor
to push the old oil tanker towards the Lysithea. The Lysithea
fires at the oil tanker and blows it up. Odelo returns to the
White Ark so that Elischa can get out. She tries to give
him back the necklace, but he tells her to hold on to it. She kisses
him and tells him that when he returns she'll give him more charms.
Odelo returns to the battle, and the White Ark takes off.
Uso uses his wings of light to attack Renda and cut an arm and leg
off her Domuttlia. She crash lands on the Lysithea and
crawls through a ceiling hatch to join Duker on the bridge. Odelo
blames himself for everyone getting lured into a trap, and he wants
to make Duker pay for violating the cease fire. Uso tells him to
stop because the Lysithea is retreating, but Odelo ignores
him. Uso blocks Odelo with his beam shield, but Odelo's shots manage
to penetrate the shield and destroy the Lysithea's bridge.
Odelo, Uso and Marbet see the spirits of Renda and Duker drive away
on a motorcycle. The rest of the crew surrenders, and Odelo sees
that he was too impulsive.
As
I expected, Duker returns for another attack, and it proves to be
his last. The reason for his death is that he violated one of Tomino's
rules of anime. In any Tomino series, it's almost a certainty that
if you declare love for someone either you or the person you love
must die immediately. In this case, both Duker and Renda die. The
brief scenes with them at the beginning show their human side and
illustrate that they aren't villains but rather just normal people.
However, Duker isn't quite normal since he had a strange fascination
for motorcycles. There's no doubt who was the main force behind
the Motorad fleet. Odelo looks to be doing well with Elischa, but
Warren still is a fool around Martina.
