Episode 25: Quatre VS Heero

January 31, 2001

Heero attacks Quatre, and the fight begins. Quatre uses the wing vulcan cannons on Wing Zero's shoulders, as well as the buster rifle. Luckily, the planet defensors of the Mercurius are able to hold off the blast. Quatre says that space has gone insane and must be destroyed. Heero says that he'll keep on believing in himself and kill Quatre. At Barge, Lady Une receives pictures of Wing Zero and tries to contact the lunar base. However, Tubarov has cut off all contact because he is under orders from Duke Dermail to speed up production of the Virgo mobile dolls. In another part of the lunar base, Duo, Wufei, and the scientists continue to suffocate. The battle between Heero and Quatre continues as Quatre knocks Heero through a colony wall. He fires the buster rifle at Heero, and suddenly Trowa jumps in front of him and takes the full force of the blast. Heero tells Trowa to get out of the Vayeate before it explodes. Trowa flies away and tells Quatre that he is a kind person and that they are all now useless since the war is over. With the colonies accepting OZ, there is no need for them.

Quatre tries to save Trowa, but Heero pulls him inside a colony. The Vayeate finally explodes, and Trowa's limp body floats near it. On Earth, Treize tells Duke Dermail and the assembly of the Romefeller Foundation that he can no longer be the commander of OZ. He believes that fighting is an important part of being human, and that removing humans from that is an error. In light of Treize's service, Dermail has him imprisoned. Lady Une heads for the lunar base with a group of Leos when Tubarov sends Tauruses to attack Barge. Her intention is to free Duo and Wufei because that is what Treize desires. Her soldiers are all killed by the newly operational Virgos, which are equipped with powerful beam cannons and planet defensors. She restores the air to the prison cells, but Tubarov shows up and shoots her. Duo and Wufei escape with the new Deathscythe Hell and Shenlong (which has been renamed Altron). They begin fighting mobile dolls and escape from the Moon.

As expected, Heero threatens to kill Quatre and of course fails to do so. Quatre shouldn't be talking about space going insane when he's the one who is crazy. The fight between Heero and Quatre was a pointless one, much like the Antarctic battle between Heero and Zechs. In an odd variation of the Leo Destruction Factor, why is it that the Vayeate is supposed to explode immediately, but it waits until Trowa finishes his speech. Fortunately, the later half of the episode is much better with Treize's resignation from OZ and the battle between Lady Une's forces and Tubarov's. Though Lady Une was in 'bad' mode, she was much more likable here than she's ever been in the series.
