Summary

Heero chases after Quatre and attacks with his beam saber and gun. Quatre blocks his attacks and uses his machine cannon to destroy Heero's beam gun. Heero then deploys the Mercurius' planet defensors, which Quatre attempts to repel with Wing Zero's beam saber and machine cannons. He then grabs the twin buster rifle and shoots at Heero, but the planet defensors manage to contain the blast. Quatre asks Heero why they're fighting and states that because the colonies have teamed up with OZ they're now his enemy. Quatre fires the twin buster rifle again, pushing Heero back. Quatre tells Heero that he'll die and should escape. Heero says he's not going anywhere because a colony needs defending. Quatre fires again and slams Heero into the colony. Une is informed that they've lost contact with Trowa, but the colony is still intact. Une hopes that Gundam pilots dedicated to protecting the colonies will be able to stop Wing Zero. Une tells her men to send images of Wing Zero to the Lunar Base for study, but they tell her they've lost contact with the base. Tubarov receives orders from Barge to restore communication, but he ignores them so that he can concentrate on his mobile dolls. The engineers' cell continues to lose air, and Professor G notes that they're going to die before ever getting revenge on OZ. Duo tries to pass time by looking at the Gundam specs and is surprised that Wufei has placed himself in a state of suspended animation. Quatre knows that Heero won't leave his mobile suit, so he decides to kill him. Quatre fires the twin buster rifle again, but Trowa flies in and absorbs the blast. Trowa tells Quatre that he's making a big mistake and fighting an unnecessary battle. Heero uses the Vayeate's beam cannon to blast away Wing Zero's twin buster rifle, and Trowa pulls away from Heero. Heero then slams into Quatre and pushes him into the colony, with Quatre asking him to save Trowa. Trowa tells Quatre that no matter how OZ and the colonies teamed up, it ended the war and their missions. He says that the Gundam pilots were trained too perfectly as soldiers, and what they experience affects Quatre more because he's so nice. Before the Vayeate explodes, Trowa says they've become redundant and that Quatre should go back to the way he was. Quatre pleads with Heero that Trowa will die, and Heero retorts that it'll be Quatre's fault. He says that since Quatre's gone mad he's going to kill him. Quatre asks Heero to kill him quickly and rescue Trowa, to which Heero responds that Quatre is fighting halfheartedly. The Mercurius' saber arm then explodes and Heero passes out. Trowa floats unconscious in space.

Dermail addresses Romefeller representatives and says that with mobile dolls they'll end all disputes on Earth and create a new era where they will govern properly. Treize addresses Dermail and says that he can't support Romefeller's current path. He believes that war can be beautiful, but the era of soulless mobile dolls will be an embarrassment to the future. He then mentions the Gundam pilots and says they've surpassed his ideals. He says that usually warriors who are betrayed or lose what they protect are considered losers, but the Gundam pilots don't accept that. He says that winners will eventually decline and also become losers. Dermail asks Treize what he's saying, and Treize says he wants to be a loser. Dermail pulls out a gun, but he says he doesn't want to see blood, and considering Treize's prior service, Dermail confines him to Romefeller headquarters. As Barge approaches the Moon, Tubarov deploys Taurus mobile dolls to attack. He tells Une that his mobile dolls are superior, and Une says she sees now why Treize dislikes mobile dolls. Tubarov says that he's building a future where death doesn't matter because mobile dolls are immortal. Une counters that mobile dolls only replace those who are afraid to die. Une leads a Leo unit into battle against the Tauruses, which open fire on Barge. Une's Leos penetrate the Lunar Base, and she goes on foot to rescue the Gundam pilots. Une's men then come under attack from the the new Virgo mobile dolls. Une turns on the air to the prison cells, but Tubarov shoots her through the chest. The Virgos deploy to the Moon's surface and begin attacking the incoming Leos. Duo and Wufei launch in the incomplete Gundam Deathscythe Hell and Altron Gundam. Wufei says it's a miracle they're both alive, and they join the attack against the Virgos. Quatre pulls the unconscious Heero out of his cockpit and gives him some water.

Commentary

Several plot threads come to a head in this episode. Picking up from the cliffhanger, we've got Heero fighting against a deranged Quatre. Quatre spouts a bunch of nonsense about space being mad, and it takes the Vayeate exploding to snap him back to his senses. Of course, as we've already seen with Heero, being inside an exploding mobile suit doesn't necessarily mean you'll die. The cracks in the Romefeller Foundation break wide open, with Treize stepping aside and Tubarov starting a fight against Une. Having experienced twin personalities, it seems Une has finally reconciled the kind of person she wants to be. It's a shame for her that Tubarov shoots her. The Virgo mobile doll makes its combat debut in this episode, and obviously a bunch of aging Leos are no match for it. Finally, Duo and Wufei make a quick escape with upgraded, albeit incomplete Gundams.
