Episode 39: Trowa's Return to the Battlefield

In a cold, snowy town, Zechs has a drink in a bar. He is approached by several men who refer to him as Zechs and Milliardo. He wants nothing to do with them. One of the men is Quinze, and he has an offer for Zechs. He wants Zechs to be the leader of White Fang because he supported colony independence before. He instructs Zechs to return to space and bring his Gundam because it is a symbol of resistance. At Romefeller headquarters, Duke Dermail presses to attack White Fang and destroy them so that peace may be achieved. Marquise Weridge objects to Dermail's orders and believes he should step down like Treize did. He believes they should follow Queen Relena, and he conspires with Dorothy to make her a queen in name as well as power. In space, Quatre, Trowa, and Noin head for the Winner colony to upgrade Sandrock for space combat. In a colony, Duo tells some White Fang members that he wants nothing to do with them. They promise to keep coming until he joins. Duo tells Hilde he's leaving because it's dangerous now. He gets into the Deathscythe Hell and leaves the colony.

At the battleship construction site, Colonel Sedici is informed that the new Virgo II mobile dolls are ready to be added to White Fang's forces. As the shuttle carrying Quatre, Trowa, and Noin passes through a shoal zone, OZ attacks without warning. Trowa decides to go out into battle with one of the Tauruses because he thinks he remembers how to fight. He takes out many OZ Tauruses by using two beam rifles. Quatre launches in Sandrock and has trouble fighting because it has not been upgraded for space combat. Noin leaves the shuttle and sets the self detonation device. Trowa runs out of ammo and is cornered. Quatre pulls up to the shuttle as it explodes to use the force of the explosion as extra propellant. As he slams into an OZ Taurus, the Deathscythe Hell de-cloaks and attacks the other Tauruses. After the battle, Duo agrees to join forces with Quatre, Trowa, and Noin. On Earth, Heero decides that if he kills Relena, he can end the fake peace offered by the World Nation.

There's quite a few developments this time. Even though Relena started out as Duke Dermail's puppet, it seems that members of the Romefeller Foundation wish to make her a real queen. Also, it looks like Quinze wants Zechs as a puppet leader for White Fang. Since his people approached Duo as well, it seems they want anyone who has a Gundam to be their figurehead leader. I can't imagine why Zechs would accept his offer. Three Gundam pilots decide to work together, which is a first for this series. Speaking of Noin, what the hell is the deal with the stupid cowboy shirt she's wearing? That's just evil. Heero's useless appearance at the end of the episode proves only one thing: by threatening to kill Relena, he won't actually do it. Then again, this is Heero we're talking about.
