Summary

Treize addresses his troops and tells them to fight the final battle of mankind to keep the horror of war away from their home. Une says that this battle is a crucial moment in history that people will have to remember for decades to come. Heero tells Relena he's going to stay because Treize can't destroy Libraright now, so he will. Relena wants to stop the battle and says only dictators believe that lives must be sacrificed for peace. Heero counters that Zechs and Treize are ready to sacrifice their lives, so he's not going to stop them. Heero wants Relena to stay with him because he doesn't want to feel like he owes Zechs anything when they fight. The Gundam pilots watch the battle from the Peacemillion, and Quatre comments that White Fang doesn't represent all of space, so he's sure many people want peace. Wufei wonders if helping Treize would be in the best interest of the colonies, and Quatre points out that Treize is only fighting Libra, not the colonies. The Peacemillion heads for the battlefield, which worries Quinze because their mobile dolls can't handle the Gundams. Zechs decides to take on the Gundams himself with the help of three Virgos. The four Gundams launch, and Quatre asks Noin to stay behind with her Taurus and protect the ship. Duo thinks it'll be easy to fight Zechs and attacks with his scythe, but a Virgo II blocks the attack with its planet defensers, while the other two attack Duo. Elsewhere, Treize destroys multiple Virgos and comments that fighting mobile dolls is dull. Une calls Treize and reports that the Gundams are fighting against Zechs. Although Treize knows that the Gundams aren't necessarily fighting for him, they have the same objective: bring down Libra. Wufei tries to attack the three Virgo IIs, but they quickly dodge and allow Zechs to attack Quatre. Quatre responds by shooting at Zechs, but the planet defensers protect the Gundam Epyon. Duo wonders why they're focusing on Quatre, and Quatre says they might think he's the easiest to pick off. But Zechs has an entirely different reason in mind: destroy the brain first. Over Dorothy's objections, Quinze gives orders for Libra to head for Earth by avoiding MO-II. Sally wants to chase after Libra, but when a crewman says they don't have enough weapons, she says they do have enough to take out Libra's main cannon. Zechs sees what the Peacemillion is doing and takes off in pursuit, leaving the mobile dolls to deal with the Gundams. Noin blocks Zechs' path and says she won't move, even if it means killing him. He slashes at her, but pulls away at the last second and flies off, cursing his own weakness.

Quinze is informed that the Peacemillion is about to ram into them, and that there's no time to evade. Libra's cannons open fire, but the Peacemillion moves forward at full speed. Quinze cowardly takes cover on his knees, so Dorothy steps up and gives orders to cut the engines. Heero tells Relena to take cover because the Peacemillion is about to ram into them. The Peacemillion then slams into Libra's main cannon, leaving the two damaged ships interlocked. Quinze is informed that the main cannon has been destroyed and thinks it's the end for Libra, but Dorothy points out that the battle isn't over yet. Treize orders his forces to keep up their attacks until all the mobile dolls are destroyed. Heero knocks away a piece of rubble that fell on him after he protected Relena with his own body, and she notices that his arm is bleeding. He says Zechs won't have his victory now, but he doesn't explain what he means when Relena asks. Quinze tells Zechs that the ship's engines still work, and Zechs declares that they still have a chance. Sally tells the Gundam pilots that the ship is stuck, so Quatre decides to enter Libra and take over the ship from within to destroy the mobile doll control system. Duo protests when the Altron Gundam suddenly flies away, but Trowa tells him that Wufei is keeping an old promise. Noin then breaks off and can't bring herself to voice the reason why, but Quatre tells her it's ok to go. After the three Gundams enter the ship, Dorothy orders the men to make sure the pilots don't get near critical areas. Wufei destroys several Virgo IIs, and Treize guesses that Wufei must be the pilot of Gundam 05. After bandaging his wound, Heero slips on a spacesuit and tells Relena to stick with Howard on the Peacemillion. She wants to speak with Zechs again, but Heero tells her there's no point because Zechs' decision is final. Duo opens a cell in Libra's brig and finds something he didn't expect to see. Several White Fang troops shoot at Trowa, but he uses the zero gravity to back flip to another platform and escape. Quatre enters a darkened room and finds Dorothy, who shoots at him. The five engineers tell Duo about what they've done, including the flaw they built into Libra's cannon to prevent it from firing consecutively. Duo asks if they think that atones for their sins, and they say it doesn't, leading him to wish he'd never found them. As Howard and the others prepare to abandon the Peacemillion, Heero returns to pick up Wing Zero. Noin lands on Libra's surface next to Zechs and says she won't try to stop him. He looks at Earth and declares that the crushing blow is coming.

Commentary

The situation takes a drastic turn with the collision of Libra and the Peacemillion. It was always curious that Libra's cannon always suffered damage each time it was fired, but it's clear that it was a deliberate fault created by the Gundam engineers. We haven't seen them in a long time, and in addition to helping build Libra, they admit to creating the mobile dolls versions of the Mercurius and Vayeate. Quinze again shows how incompetent he is by losing his cool before the crash and being useless afterward. It's really a wonder that he managed to lead White Fang until he recruited Zechs. Zechs uses some interesting battle tactics and manages to keep four Gundams at bay with the help of just three Virgos. Since this is the end of the line, Wufei is calling in that offer from Treize to challenge him again.
