An empty
plane lands at the New Edwards base in Los Angeles. Lady Une reports
to Treize that all OZ forces are in place, and the message about
OZ leaders meeting at New Edwards has been broadcast. He wonders
why Zechs is in Nairobi, and Lady Une tells him that there will
be a fierce battle there. Heero hears the message and heads for
LA. Trowa leaves from the circus, and Quatre leaves his Maganac
Corps behind. They both end up on the same ship heading for San
Francisco, but Trowa decides to fight alone. Heero attacks an Alliance
base to steal a mobile suit carrier. He finds Duo inside the plane
loading the Deathscythe onto it. After the Wing Gundam is loaded
on, they take off and head for LA. At the New Edwards base, a plane
arrives carrying Field Marshal Noventa, Alliance Terra commander
General Ventei, and Alliance Space commander General Septem. Noventa
discusses how the Alliance was originally founded to prevent military
build up, but now it has become what it was supposed to prevent.
Noventa proposes complete disarmament worldwide and the establish
of peace with the colonies. Septem disagrees because of the recent
Gundam attacks.
The meeting
continues until the battle alarm is sounded. Heero and Duo land
and are immediately attacked by dozens of Leos. Noventa wants to
talk to the Gundam pilots, but that is impossible. Treize suggests
that Noventa should escape on the new Specials shuttle. Noventa
and Ventei board, but Treize tells Septem to come with him. The signal
for Operation Daybreak is given, and OZ forces around the world
begin to attack Alliance bases. All this time, OZ soldiers had been
disguising themselves as the 'Specials' soldiers and infiltrating
bases. Revolts begin around the world. Noin and Zechs attack the
Nairobi base and take control of it. Trowa arrives at the New Edwards
base and fires missiles that hit Heero and Duo. Heero, Duo, Trowa,
and Quatre face each other wondering what to do. Noventa's plane
takes off, and Heero spots the OZ insignia on it. He transforms
his Gundam into Bird mode and flies over to the plane. He returns
to Gundam mode and slices the plane in half, thinking he has killed
the top OZ officials. Trowa and Duo start fighting until Wufei intervenes.
He tells them that they've all been set up. Septem broadcasts an
announcement around the world that the colonies assassinated Noventa
and have declared war. After Septem finishes his announcement, Lady
Une ejects him from the plane and shoots him. Wufei says that Treize
planned this all and lured them in to assassinate the pacifists
of the Alliance. Heero regrets what he has done.
Well, I
have to say this is the first really good episode in this series.
Finally, no more stupid 'Let me destroy these stupid Alliance bases'.
Now we have an all out war and the OZ rebellion. Treize's plan to
lure the Gundams in and have them assassinate Noventa for him is
very well done. Finally, all five pilots have met, and they don't
seem to like each other much. Now it seems a real war will begin.
Treize plays it cool the whole time, and Lady Une shows how bad
she really is. I mean, isn't it enough to eject Septem high in the
sky? What's the point of shooting him too? Looks like Lady Une delights
in cruelty.
