Gundam Wing

New Mobile Report Gundam Wing

(U.S. title: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing)

Following the end of G Gundam in early 1995, Gundam Wing took its place and became the second alternate universe Gundam TV series. Set in the After Colony (AC) universe, this war drama bears many similarities to some of the series from the Universal Century. Directed by Masashi Ikeda and written by Katsuyuki Sumizawa (both of whom worked on Samurai Troopers, aka Ronin Warriors), Gundam W was a hit in Japan. In AC 195, five Gundams are sent down to Earth to avenge the death of assassinated space colony leader and pacifist Heero Yuy. The five young Gundam pilots, including one who bears the name of Heero Yuy, begin a lonely war against OZ (Organization of Zodiac), which has plans to rule over the Earth and the space colonies. Less than a year after the TV series ended, the story was continued in the OVA series Endless Waltz, which marked the first time that a Gundam TV series received a direct OVA sequel. In 2000, Gundam Wing became the first Gundam series to air on U.S. TV and introduced legions of new fans to the Gundam franchise. The TV and OVA series are both available on DVD.
