Summary

On the Sudori, Buran returns from battle and can't believe that Amuro rammed a plane into him. Rosamia begs him to let her join his unit because she wants to fight the AEUG. She tells him she is haunted by images off the AEUG dropping colonies on the Earth and killing the entire population. Buran agrees and tells her to do as she wishes. On the Audhumla, Hayato tells Amuro that he sent Fraw and the kids to him on purpose to help him escape confinement. Katz also wanted to go into space against Fraw's wishes. Hayato tells Amuro that he wants him to train Katz as a mobile suit pilot. Katz visits Kamille and looks at the Mk II. Char tells Kamille to watch Katz and says that he's able to pilot mobile suits. Kamille asks him about Amuro, and Katz says he's not energetic like he used to be on the White Base. Amuro talks to Char and asks why he came back to Earth. Char says he came to laugh at Amuro, and that Lalah's soul is floating near Mars. He asks Amuro to be the man who meets Katz's expectations. Kamille talks to Amuro and tells him it was difficult being compared to him. Amuro asks Kamille what Katz said about him, and Kamille says he should ask Katz himself before running away. Amuro wonders what the hell has happened to him. Katz spots a Karaba Comet biplane approaching, and it lands in the hangar. Katz, Hayato, Char and Kamille are introduced to its pilot, a beautiful woman named Beltorchika Irma. Katz tries to tell Amuro about her, but Amuro ignores him and takes a shower.

Amuro joins a meeting between Hayato, Kamille and Beltorchika as Katz leaves the room. Char walks by, and Beltorchika says he scares her. She says she doesn't sense anything peaceful about him, and Amuro says he is a nice man. As the Audhumla flies over the ruins of San Francisco, the Sudori approaches from behind. Rosamia heads out alone in her Gaplant and attacks. Katz steals the Mk II and goes out to fight Rosamia Char launches in the Hyaku-Shiki, followed by Kamille in a Rick Dias. Amuro tries to go out with a Nemo, but Hayato reminds him that he hasn't piloted a mobile suit since the One Year War. Beltorchika sees that he was is a warrior who wants to fight, but he seems to be scared. Rosamia figures out that the pilot of the Mk II isn't Kamille and attacks ruthlessly. Katz is unable to see Rosamia, and when she attacks, he crashes into the Golden Gate Bridge. Rosamia moves in to finish him, but Char attacks her. Katz begins shooting wildly in the air and almost hits Kamille and Char. Char chases Rosamia, and Katz tells Kamille he can fight. Kamille says he's caused a lot of trouble, and Katz senses something. Rosamia appears behind Kamille, and Katz shoots both of the Gaplant's legs off. The Gaplant crashes into the Golden Gate Bridge, and Kamille severely damages it. Rosamia ejects from the Gaplant right before it explodes, and Kamille is surprised the pilot was a girl. On the Audhumla, Hayato punches Katz for his stupid stunt. Katz explains he felt the enemy, and Kamille intervenes and says both he and Hayato are right. Amuro wonders what's wrong with him.

Commentary

A strange episode altogether. When first seeing Rosamia, we get the impression she's just a ruthless Titan. In this episode, not only do we learn she's a Cyber Newtype, but that she's emotionally unstable too. We're also introduced to Beltorchika, who is also strange. She bears more than a striking resemblance to Sayla Mass, and she does strange things like smell Amuro to see what soap he uses. She also has strange feelings about Amuro and Char, so is she a Newtype? Amuro acts really weird during this episode, and it's a tease when he almost gets into the action. Katz does something really stupid, but Kamille saves him. That's somewhat strange, since it's the same stupid thing Kamille did a long time ago himself. He's come a long way.
