Episode 28: The Jupitris Infiltration

Review by Chris Guanche

September 26, 2001

Summary

Aboard the Argama, Char meets with Henken and Bright. They want to address the rumors about what happened on Earth, and Char says that Blex is dead. He also says they have to plan for the next attack of the Titans fleet at Side 2. Kamille sees the old Gelgoog being repaired with Nemo parts, and Astoniage tells him that Reccoa will use it to infiltrate the Jupitris. Kamille looks for Reccoa and instead finds Fa, who tells him that Reccoa is showing Shinta and Qum around the ship. Kamille finds Reccoa and says that after Jaburo she needs to think about herself. She says it's an assignment and thought he would have grown up. He becomes angry and says he doesn't want to be treated like a kid. Later, Fa visits Reccoa in her room and says that Kamille is really slow and doesn't understand that she wants to get over the humiliation of Jaburo. Kamille examines the Gelgoog and asks Astoniage's opinion of Reccoa, and Astoniage says he should stick to Fa. Fa takes Kamille to another room and says that Reccoa wants to get over Jaburo. Kamille says that's the problem and is afraid she'll act rashly. On the Dogosse Giar, Scirocco tells Sarah that he wants her help in the upcoming battle at Side 2, and he also decides to return to the Jupitris. Reccoa launches and says she doesn't want Kamille to follow her. Kamille launches under Bright's orders, which upsets Fa. He tells her she can go as well. On the Dogosse Giar, the Gelgoog is spotted and Sarah goes to investigate.

Reccoa approaches the enormous Jupitris, and the Zeta Gundam hides behind a nearby asteroid. The crew is amazed that Reccoa is piloting such an antique mobile suit, and some of them try to hit on her. They ask where she is from, but they stop when Scirocco walks by. Kamille eats a chocolate bar while he waits, and he is attacked by Sarah's Messala. Inside the Jupitris, Reccoa escapes from her escort and examines the ship. When she sees Scirocco she tries to hide, but he spots her. He touches her, and when she pushes him away, he slaps her. He then asks for her name and address, and she tells him. Outside, Kamille and Sarah continue to fight, and he is amazed by the power of the Messala. He is surprised when Fa joins the battle with the Methuss. Scirocco is told about the battle and orders the Palace-Athene to be sent out, but he recalls the order when he senses she wants to keep fighting alone. Reccoa knocks out a guard and opens the gate so she can escape. Fa fights a bit recklessly, and Sarah damages the Methuss. She then begins to chase Reccoa. Kamille sneaks up on Sarah and slices off the Messala's foot, forcing her to retreat. Scirocco later tells her to relax because he has many things for her to do. On the Argama, Reccoa reviews with Bright sketches she made of the Jupitris's interior. She looks at one and sees Scirocco, and she suddenly leaves.

Commentary

We finally get to see Scirocco again after a long absence, and he's as creepy as ever. We also get to see his massive ship Jupitris, where he produces his own mobile suits. The way Sarah follows him around like a little puppy, it seems very clear that she's smitten with him. Fa is also her usual annoying self here. Kamille is genuinely concerned about Reccoa's mission, but she tries to turn it around and make it seem like his concern is a bad thing. It seems like his concern was warranted, as Reccoa has a strange encounter with Scirocco. When she thinks of him, it's almost in the same way as Sarah does. I wonder if Scirocco has this effect on every woman he encounters.
