Episode 46: Scirocco Rises

Review by Chris Guanche

November 3, 2002

Summary

On the Jupitris, Scirocco examines his new mobile suit, The-O. Reccoa asks him if Jamitov will move, and he tells her he told Jamitov he would be meeting with Haman. Sarah asks why he isn't bringing her along, and he says he wants her to protect the ship. She insists on coming, so he relents and allows her to come with him and Reccoa. Sarah tells Reccoa to stay out of the way because she is coming between her and Scirocco. Reccoa says he is treating them both equally. Scirocco launches in The-O, followed by Reccoa in the Palace-Athene and Sarah in the Bolinoak-Sammahn. Scirocco receives a message saying that Jamitov will also attend the negotiations with Haman on the Gwadan. On the Argama, Katz asks why Char isn't back from the Gwadan yet, and Fa says the meeting is running longer than expected. Katz says that Haman will team up with the Titans again and that he intends to fight them. Kamille tells him to stop, and Katz answers a phone call from Torres and leaves. Torres tells Kamille that they intercepted a message from the Jupitris about Scirocco meeting with Haman. Katz steals the G-Defenser to fight Haman, and Kamille follows him with the Zeta Gundam. He tells Torres to call the Gwadan and make sure they don't get shot at. At the Gwadan, Scirocco and Sarah land while Reccoa waits outside for Jamitov. In another part of the ship, Mineva plays the violin for Char and tells him she thinks he is the only person who understands her. She then leaves and says Haman is moving her to another ship. Haman gives Katz permission to land in the ship, but not Kamille. Kamille forces his way into the ship and tries to stop Katz, but he gets shot at. He tells Sarah that Katz is trying to kill Scirocco and Haman. Katz attacks a soldier and encounters Char. In the conference room, Haman comes in and sits down with Scirocco and Jamitov.

Kamille tries to move, but the guards won't allow him to. In the conference room, Haman tells Jamitov that it looks like the Federation wants to break away from the Titans. Jamitov laughs and says the situation can't change that quickly. Haman says that she has gained power in space and isn't afraid of Titans, whose souls are held down by gravity. She asks Scirocco to join her, and he says that though he agrees with her about Spacenoids, he is loyal to Jamitov. Kamille feels something odd, and Char kills two soldiers and tells Katz to escape. In the conference room, Scirocco pulls a gun on Haman. She tells him what will happen if he kills her, but he says it is less dangerous than letting her live. Char comes into the room and shoots at Scirocco, grazing his arm. Sarah feels Scirocco's peril and blasts through the ship with the Bolinoak-Sammahn's beam gun. The blast creates a direct passage to the conference room. In the confusion, Jamitov finds himself alone with Scirocco. Scirocco says goodbye to Jamitov and kills him. Sarah finds Scirocco and helps him get back to the hangar. He blasts a hole in the hull with The-O's beam rifle and escapes. He calls the Titans fleet and tells them to attack Haman because she assassinated Jamitov. Kamille and Katz escape, and Haman launches in the Qubeley. Scirocco, Sarah and Reccoa surround Haman, but she launches her funnels and damages both the Palace-Athene and Bolinoak-Sammahn. Scirocco manages to dodge and destroy the funnels, and Haman sees he is more powerful than she thought. Katz tries to shoot Scirocco, but Sarah jumps in the way and takes the full brunt of the attack. The Bolinoak-Sammahn explodes, and Scirocco sees the image of Sarah protecting the G-Defenser. When the Mk II, Methuss and Hyaku-Shiki show up, Scirocco retreats. Katz cries, and the Gwadan explodes nearby.

Commentary

Well, this was quite an episode. We get some political maneuvering along with some character deaths courtesy of Kill 'Em All Tomino. We also get to see Scirocco's The-O in action, and it seems quite powerful for such a bulky suit. Sarah shows some jealousy towards Reccoa, and she obviously is not happy with how close Reccoa is to Scirocco. Katz also acts impulsively again, and it causes quite a mess. That boy is going to die if he keeps acting in that manner. Scirocco meanwhile takes advantage of the situation to kill Jamitov and blame Haman for it. Now he is in charge of the Titans, but there's still Bask to worry about. Sarah also dies in this episode too, in the exact same way that Lalah did during the original series. With only four episodes left, the body bags look like they will start piling up.
