Summary

The ruined battleship drifts into Gryps 2. Emma tells Kamille to take her life and win. She says that the Zeta Gundam has the power to take in people's will and use that energy. She tells Kamille that people are watching over him and that he isn't alone. She dies, and Kamille cries out her name. Nearby, Char chases Scirocco and is in turn chased by Haman. Scirocco flies into Gryps 2 and begins destroying the breakers to incapacitate the colony laser. As Char and Scirocco fight, Haman moves in with the Qubeley and slices off one of the Hyaku-Shiki's arms. Char crashes into one of the breakers, and Scirocco tells him that his destiny as a failed Newtype is to die. Char flies away, and Haman tells him he can still join with her. The-O fires and blows off one of the Hyaku-Shiki's legs. Char escapes to the living quarters and abandons the Hyaku-Shiki. Bright wants to lure in more Titans ships to fire the colony laser, but the Minovsky particle density is too high. Char enters a theatre, and Haman turns on the spotlight and aims a gun at him. Scirocco shows up and says he want to watch history. He also says he is calmer than Char because Char wants to grab hold of the world with his hands. Haman says that if Char helps her revive the Zabis that they can rule the world together. Char says that all he wants is to watch as humans evolve into Newtypes. He tries to go for his gun, but Haman shoots at him. She says she will restore the Zabis herself to guide the people, and he says she is making the same mistake. Kamille shows up, and everyone feels pressure from him. He says that the people who need to be removed are those whose souls are held down by gravity. Scirocco says that ordinary people only hold back the intelligent, and they shoot at each other. Fa shows up and shoots at Scirocco, and they escape. As they fly through Gryps 2, Kamille shoots at Haman and tells Char he will take care of her and Scirocco. Char turns around to help Kamille, despite Kamille's objections. The colony laser is about to be fired, but Bright tells Torres to standby since people are still inside of it.

Shinta and Qum help Hasan with the wounded. Bright tells Torres again that he will wait until Kamille is out of Gryps 2 before firing. Kamille tells Char to leave because he has important things to accomplish, and Char says that a new era can't be created by old people. Kamille, Fa and Char escape from Gryps 2, followed by Scirocco and Haman. Bright fires Gryps 2 and destroys the Alexandria and most of the remaining Titans ships. Haman returns to Axis and tells Mineva that if necessary she will sacrifice her life to destroy the AEUG. Kamille chases Scirocco as Scirocco searches for the Jupitris. Kamille tells Scirocco that he can't see what is going on, and Scirocco calls him a smart aleck kid. Char shoots at Haman, but he runs out of ammo. He grabs the Qubeley and slams it into the interior of a ruined Salamis Kai. Haman deploys her funnels and blows off the Hyaku-Shiki's remaining arm and leg. She asks Char if they will continue or end, and he fires his vulcans at a power cable. Haman escapes as the Salamis Kai blows up with Char inside. Kamille tells Scirocco that all he does is look on from the outside and play with people's feelings. Scirocco attacks with one of The-O's hidden arms, and the voice of Emma tells Kamille he's too impatient. Lila tells Kamille his power can't match The-O. Kamille says he will let everyone use his body, and the image of Sarah appears, blocking The-O. Reccoa and Rosamia tell her to get out of the way, and Katz asks her to stop thinking with her head only. Scirocco watches as the Zeta Gundam glows with the power of the bio-sensor. The-O is unable to move, so Kamille transforms into Waverider and slams into The-O, impaling Scirocco on its tip. As Scirocco dies, he tells Kamille he will take his mind with him. Kamille sees a blinding light as The-O explodes. Nearby, Fa destroys a Barzam with the Methuss. She finds Kamille and is shocked to hear him babbling incoherently about the size of starts and comments. As she takes Kamille back to the Argama, she spots the wrecked Mk II and says it wants to return home too. Elsewhere, the wrecked torso of the Hyaku-Shiki floats through space with its cockpit hatch open.

Commentary

Wow, what an ending. The bloodbath continues here with a death toll surpassed only by Tomino's earlier series Dunbine. We get the death of Emma here, along with a particularly gruesome one for Scirocco. One of the highlights in this episode is the four way battle fought between Haman, Char, Kamille and Scirocco inside of Gryps 2. Tomino certainly knows how to set up fights, and this is one of the best I've seen. In these last few episodes, we see that Kamille has developed a grim determination to end the war no matter the personal cost. This is probably a result of all the suffering he's endured throughout the series. He's willing to sacrifice himself, and he ends up paying the price when Scirocco uses his power to cripple his mind. There's also a final confrontation between Char and Haman, and as improbable as it seems, he manages to survive again. Some of his comments foreshadow his objectives in Char's Counterattack. Where he goes after this battle is anyone's guess, but it's clear that this war and the upcoming Neo Zeon War have a drastic effect on him. The Titans have been wiped out, but the threat of Haman looms over the crippled AEUG. This series ends with the first cliffhanger ending in Gundam, which makes it a shame that Gundam ZZ drops the ball at the beginning with its comic antics.
