Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation

In 2005, Yoshiyuki Tomino returned to the Gundam franchise once again for another set of compilation movies. Having already done so for Mobile Suit Gundam and Turn A Gundam, Tomino's focus this time around was the 1985 series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Prepared for the series' 20th anniversary, Zeta Gundam: A New Translation condenses the 50 episodes of the TV series into a trilogy of films. Combining new and old animation, the movies change the order of some events from the TV series. The first film, Heirs to the Stars, premiered in Japan in May 2005 to great success. The second film, Lovers, premiered in October 2005 and was followed by Love is the Pulse of the Stars in March 2006. At Anime Expo 2006, Bandai announced negotiations to bring the title to the U.S., but no further information has surfaced since then.
