Episode 43: Final Battle

Review by Joel Jankiewicz

Summary

Blade and Evil meet each other outside the Orbital Ring, and Evil says he’ll miss their fights, but says they can’t stop their destiny. Blade says that it was Evil who killed Miyuki, but Evil says that she betrayed Radam, just as Blade did. They both start taking swings at one another, and the fight is fairly even until Blade fires his Vol-Tekkers early, and just catches Evil’s right shoulder and injures him. Just as Blade moves in, his forehead gem starts going off, and Blade stops in pain and is surprised how he’s already wasted so much time. Evil takes advantage and rams Blade, and they both crash into the Orbital Ring, Aki watches where they hit, and she runs to that area. Evil walks towards Blade, as he can’t seem to get up. Just as Evil brings his weapon down to finish the job, his weapon stops and inch from Blade’s head. Blade asks him why he won’t kill him, and Evil says he wants to fight Tekkaman-Blade, and not someone that is in Blade’s state. Evil walks away, and says he’ll give time for Blade to regain his strength. A short time later, Aki thinks she’s found D-Boy leaning on a wall, and notices blood on the floor, but just as she runs up to a point where she can see him, it’s actually Shinya leaning against the wall, and he smiles at her. She pulls out her pistol and points it at him, and Shinya asks her why she loves D-Boy. He says he can give her the same things without losing his memory, but Aki asks Shinya why he hates D-Boy so much. Shinya says he doesn’t hate, but loves him so much, he wanted to be his brother. He tells Aki that when one of them was about to born, a genetic mistake occurred in that instead of one child, two were born, him and D-Boy. He tells Aki to stay out of the fight, but Aki warns him that she’ll shoot if he goes back to fight. He asks her if she can shoot someone who has D-Boy’s face, and starts walking towards her. Just before she pulls the trigger, D-Boy comes into the hall, and tells Aki not to interfere in the fight. Aki asks if she seriously can’t help, and D-Boy tells her she can’t. Aki starts crying, and D-Boy tells Shinya he’s ready to fight again. Both go back outside to fight as Tekkaman, leaving Aki alone as she’s still on her hands and knees crying. Blade and Evil continue to duke it out, and the battle is still even, despite the fact they’re injuring each other. One of Blade’s attacks trips Evil, but before Blade can attack again, Evil evolves into his Tekkaman Blaster Evil form. Blade does the same thing, and evolves as well, and the battle has turned into a battle of evolved Tekkaman. They go down to Earth, and Blade fires an energy blast from his weapon, but destroys a good chunk of a deserted city when Evil dodges. Blade tries again, but Evil creates a barrier that stops his blast. Evil flies off, and Blade chases him, which results in them going around the world in a large chase. As they pass the Alaska base, the crew is praying for D-Boy’s safety, and as the chase continues and they start flying up an Orbital Ring elevator, people D-Boy has ran across before watch the fight on a live video feed. The fight goes back up to the Orbital Ring, where Aki watches the fight from a window. Blade and Evil stand off, both seem to be unable to hurt each other. Evil says he’s everything his brother is now, and the universe has no need for both of them. Evil charges his Vol-Tekkers, and Blade does the same. As Aki watches, they both fire their Vol-Tekkers, and the beams collide, creating a large explosion. Blade is knocked out of his Blaster form and tries to keep himself from hitting the Orbital Ring. Evil is only half knocked out of his Blaster form and charges at Blade, catching him by surprise. Evil tells Blade to send regards to their sister, but just before Evil strikes, he suddenly changes the angle of his attack. Evil strikes Blade in the shoulder, but Blade hits more at home and seems to nail Evil in the stomach. Both collide into the Orbital Ring, and Aki rushes to where they crashed. The damaged section seals the hole, and as the section burns with fire, Blade pulls out Evil’s weapon out of his shoulder. He hears a scream, then notices Evil standing, with Blade’s own weapon completely impaled in Evil’s stomach. Evil falls face first to the floor, and Blade’s weapon comes out of Evil’s back. As Blade goes to check on Evil, he notices a sack on the back of Evil’s neck that breaks open, and a strange alien insect comes out and just randomly walks around. Evil’s Tekkaman armor vanishes, and Shinya returns to normal, but is gravely wounded. Blade holds Shinya, but Shinya tells him he’s finally had it. Blade asks him what the alien is, and Shinya tells him it’s a Radam Mind Parasite. Since Radam has no real physical form, all Radam Tekkaman have them, to carry out Radam’s will, and to keep the Tekkaman obedient. But he says he can’t blame everything on the parasite because he still enjoyed being Tekkaman-Evil. He hands Blade his crystal and says he can use it to get to Omega. He says they’re now one, and says good bye as he passes away in Blade’s arms. Blade in his anger, stomps on the insects, and yells out in rage. Aki finally runs into the room, happy to see Blade alive. Blade tells her to stay away, and Aki realizes he has Evil’s crystal. He tells her he’s going after Omega, and throws a switch to open the section he’s in, while sealing the section Aki is in. Aki runs to Blade crying, begging him to stay. Blade tells her to let the others know he’s going off on his own, and intends to finish the job. As the door closes, Blade leaves with Pegas, and uses the crystal to charge himself with an energy field, and heads straight to the moon. While Aki is crying at the door, Blade realizes there is no one left between him and Omega.

As Blade heads for the moon, he isn’t feeling completely well, and feels a resistance the closer he gets to the moon. At the Radam base, Omega awakens, and now has the strength to raise the ship again. The moon’s surface starts to break up, and the area the Radam base is trapped in begins to have quakes. Blade’s forehead gem starts going off again, and he begins to feel weaker. He tries to remember all the important things in his life, but something in his mind snaps and he begins to lose memories again. He falls off Pegas, and just floats in space. Milly informs Freeman that Blade has stopped a short distance from the moon, and Freeman fears that Blade’s mind has finally snapped. Rebin comes on the com and tells Freeman that there are tremors on the moon. The Radam base finally breaks free, and starts to head towards the Earth. As Blade floats in space, Aki is praying for him and says she loves him, hoping her thoughts will reach him. Blade wakes up, but begins to go insane, he uses Evil’s crystal again, and his strength instantly returns. He gets onto Pegas and heads towards the Radam ship in a frenzied rage, and Omega is shocked at what has happened to him. As Blade goes through the halls destroying everything in his path, he comes up to the main room, where Omega lies. As they stare off, Omega welcomes Blade, but notices Evil’s crystal in his left hand. Tentacles come up from the floor and grab onto Blade and Pegas, and Omega says that Evil was killed by him, and that Sword too was dead. He asks Blade if he wants to kill his entire family, and Omega opens a small section of his chest armor, and Keno’s head is in a liquid organic container. Blade is shocked, and Omega goes on by saying that Radam chose him to be the Tekkaman warlord because he was the strongest on the Argos, and the tentacles toss Blade out of the ship’s ceiling and into space. Blade cuts them away, and Omega comes up to the ship’s surface as well. Omega tells Blade that the Earth belongs to him, but Blade says it isn’t as long as he lives. Omega says that Blade is indeed probably the strongest Tekkaman, but goes on by saying he’s a Tekkaman Warlord, and is stronger than him. As Blade attacks him again, Omega summons Tekkaman duplicates from the ship’s very own surface, but Blade cuts them to bits and goes to attack Omega directly. Tentacles come up from the surface and attack Blade in swarms, and start ripping his armor apart. As the Space Knights from the Alaska base watch the Radam ship on the monitor, Blade fights a losing battle, and gets pinned on the surface. He gets impaled by a tentacle and almost falls unconscious, and Omega sends more to finish the job. Pegas stands in front of Blade at the last second, and gets impaled instead. Blade sees this, and the tentacles pull Pegas off the surface and rip it to shreds. Blade’s crystal breaks in half, and he watches Pegas’s head bounce away, as Pegas says good bye before he shuts down. Blade suddenly goes berserk and a large energy field surrounds him, and Omega has no idea what happened. He sees D-Boy shifting from human to Blaster Tekkaman, and tries to blast him, only to have his own shots bounce off the energy field. He tries to grab D-Boy, but Omega’s hand vaporizes when he tries to grab him. The field finally surrounds Omega, and both D-Boy and Kengo stare off at one another. D-Boy puts on a forced smile, and tells Kengo it’s finally over. D-Boy shifts back to his Blaster form, and begins to fire the Vol-Tekkers. The memories of his family come to his mind again, and he shifts back to human form, and the energy field that surrounded him and Omega explodes. The Radam ship becomes engulfed, and Omega is killed in the blast. As the Radam ship explodes, Aki cries out D-Boy’s name, and debris begins falling to Earth. D-Boy has shifted into his Tekkaman form, and begins descending to Earth, much like he did in the series beginning. Milly sees a shooting star, and knows it’s Blade falling. She starts crying, as she watches the rest of the Radam ship debris come down as shooting stars. Sometime has passed now, and things are returning to normal on Earth, as normal as it as least could be. Noal is in a jeep, driving to a house at the edge of a cliff with a view of the open sea, and we get dialogue of him and Freeman with a conversation. Noal says it’s a miracle D-Boy survived, and Freeman notes that it was unfortunate that Balzak perished when he fought Sword, but says it was a miracle Noal survived Blue-Earth’s crash. Noal says he didn’t walk away from it, and Freeman apologizes. Noal stops at the house, and steps out on a crutch. As Noal takes off his glasses, Freeman says pretty much no one walked away unscathed, especially D-Boy. He goes on by saying D-Boy doesn’t remember anything, but is physically recovering well. He goes on by saying D-Boy has a devoted nurse, and Noal says Aki giving D-Boy a blanket as he’s in a wheel chair. Freeman finally catches up to Noal, and places his hand on his shoulder, and nods to him. He says that it’s best D-Boy probably doesn’t remember, but he knows that they will never forget what he did. As D-Boy and Aki stare at the sunset, Aki asks D-Boy if it was worth coming to see. D-Boy says it’s beautiful, but his words are jumbled and slow. Aki smiles at him, and D-Boy does smiles back. Aki says they’ll see each sunset together, and she lays her head on his lap, and watch the sunset.

Commentary

That’s it! It started with a bang, and ended with a bang! For this particular version, we only missed a few episodes, and the ending is just a little compact. We finally realize that Shinya could’ve killed D-Boy, but somehow managed to let his brother win to fight Kengo, known as Omega. With Omega dead and Radam defeated for now, Earth recovers, but slowly. There will be the Primary Body uprising in the future, as well as other issues to come. D-Boy seems to have been left in a mentally challenged state, but Aki is still happy to be with him. And with this, we for now say farewell to the Space Knight Tekkaman Blade cast, but there is still Tekkaman Blade II yet, so there are more adventures in the future. I just wish the editing to this was done more properly, with Evil and Omega’s fights being in separate episodes, but I’m not complaining too much. Like I said, this episode ended with a bang.
