Summary

A girl named Yumi is she is lost in a hall carrying pipes of some kind. She runs into a dead end in a hall, but when she leans against a wall, it suddenly opens up to a room. She falls over, but gets up to see a man in a suit with sunglasses starring at her, with a scar over and under his left eye. She apologizes to him and starts cleaning up, and in surprise sees the man hand her one of the pipes. She eventually gets back on her way, and wonders who she ran into. The man gets on a computer and looks up Yumi’s bio, and stares at it for a moment. At the same time in Uranus Region of space, the Earth Military is trying to fight off Radam. Three Radam ships lead the assault with spidercrabs aiding them, and they seem to just destroy ship after ship the Uranus fleet has. The captain of one of the ships notifies that the best Sol Tekkaman corp; the Vaking unit, is arriving to help them. The officer who is told this goes off to notify the crew, but realizes that they can’t win this fight even with their help. As spidercrabs start swarming ships with other Sol Tekkaman armors fighting them off, the officer realizes that only real Tekkaman can help them. Back on Earth, 2 new “Blue-Earth Craft” are helping two new Primary Body Tekkamen in their training, and Yumi watches with excitement. The ships eventually land, and Honda, the main mechanic, tells everyone to get to work. Yumi is stopped by Alpha Ship’s pilot, Goliate, and asks Yumi to come with him. They meet Natasha, and she hands her a communications pad to Yumi and tells her it wasn’t fixed. Yumi apologizes, but Natasha is angered and grabs Yumi by her mechanic collar. She tells her that her life is on the line and that there can’t be any mistakes. Honda comes in and takes the blame, telling her that it was his supervision mistake. Natasha calms down and lets Yumi go, and sees a necklace around Yumi’s neck. Natasha asks her if she’s a Primary Body as well, and Yumi says she is. Natasha and Goliate leave, and Yumi apologizes to Honda, but he just tells her to a do a better job next time, and gets her spirits back up as she goes to work. The pilot of Beta Ship, Anita, asks the other Tekkaman in training. David, if he’s tired, but he just comes out the changing room and winks at a large group girls waiting for him, and says he isn’t tired. He takes one of the girls with him, but quickly ditches her when he sees Chief Aki Kisaragi come into the hanger. Honda asks her if she needs anything, and Aki asks where Yumi is, which surprises Honda. He points her out, and Aki looks at her while she works. Later on in the evening, Yumi is sitting on Gamma Ship, and pretends to be Tekkaman Blade on top, and wishes badly to be one. She hears someone call her, and sees Hayato Kawakami, Gamma Ship’s pilot, jump out of the cockpit. He apologizes for scaring her, and they have a quick chat. He asks her if she wants to be a Tekkaman badly, and she tells him that she does, but doesn’t say what other reasons she wanted to join the Space Knights for. She runs off, but runs straight into Aki, who was waiting for both of them. She tells them to take the Gamma Ship for a trail run, which surprises the both of them. Later on, Yumi is in her Primary Body Tekkaman form, trying to just hold on to Gamma Ship as Hayato takes it around, with Aki watching. The man that Yumi ran into earlier, watches from a computer in his room. Yumi slowly catches on, but being the goof she is, grabs onto Gamma’s left wing, causing it to spin and nearly crash into water. Hayato pulls out of it, but poor Yumi is stuck in the water. After the drill is done, Yumi can’t open the change room door in the hanger, and asks Hayato to not look at her while she changes forms. After she changes, Hayato tosses her a shirt, and he apologizes, and says he didn’t see anything. Hayato still has his back turned, but Yumi stares at him in shock. Back at Uranus, the Earth Fleet there is nearly beaten, but the Vaking unit arrives, and starts to push back the Radam forces. Back on Earth, The Blue-Earth Craft pilots, with David and Natasha have a meeting with Aki, and she tells them the third new Tekkaman has been decided. Yumi comes into the meeting, and Aki tells everyone that Yumi will be the third Tekkaman.

Everyone is surprised by this, and when Natasha tries to question the call, Aki asks her if she wants to resign her position. David has no problem with it, and Natasha eventually agrees. Aki goes on by saying that one of them will have the “Reactor Vol-Tekker” installed into one of their Tekkaman forms. Aki explains how it uses a Crystal Field and has the beam target multiple enemies at once, and will keep going until all hostiles are eliminated. Aki says that Natasha was selected for this, but when Yumi tries to shake her hand and congratulate her, Natasha just walks away with Goliate. Aki tells them that Tekkaman formatting will begin soon at the Tekkaplant, and later, within a lab of some kind, Yumi, David, and Natasha are in their Primary Body forms awaiting the formatting to start. Honda finds it strange now that Earth uses similar technology stolen from Radam, to create their own Tekkaman now. The process begins as each would be Tekkaman gets into a chamber, and a crystal for each one begins to form into individual crystals. Aki wonders if the Earth Forces at Uranus can hold off for ten hours, as that’s the time it’ll take for the process to be completed to turn Yumi, David, and Natasha into full Tekkaman. Back in Uranus airspace, the Vaking unit finally run into one of Radam’s alien Tekkaman, who is riding an organic rider. In a matter of moments, the entire unit is destroyed along with the rest of the remaining fleet in one Vol-Tekker shot. The three Radam ships form portals over different colonies around Jupiter’s moons, Mars, and even Earth. The ships fire missiles into the main portal, and different locations become attacked all at the same time. One such missile attack heads toward Earth, and the Orbital Ring defense can’t stop the missiles as they strike near the Space Knights base. The doctors there try to stabilize the Tekkaman process, but when Aki and the crew check up, the doctors say a malfunction occurred. They open an emergency circuit, and Yumi, along with David and Natasha, pass out from the pain of the malfunction. Yumi suddenly dreams about a child hood moment, as she runs through a farm field chasing a falling object of some kind. She wakes up in the medical facility along with David and Natasha, and Aki tells them their process is 90% complete, saying they are pretty much full Tekkaman. But she tells Natasha that the Vol-Tekker data that was meant for her, ended up going to Yumi instead. Yumi is shocked, and Natasha turns away angered. She tells them that a Radam fleet has beaten the Uranus Defense Fleet and are now attacking Earth, and tells them they now have to intercept them. Later, Blue-Earth Craft launch from an underwater catapult, and make it to Earth orbit, where the fight at the Orbital Ring now is. Aki tells Yumi to stay behind, as she hasn’t had enough training. Natasha and David head out with Goliate (Alpha Ship) and Anita (Beta Ship), with Hayato (Gamma Ship) covering them. Natasha Tekk-Setters into Tekkaman Vesna, while David Tekk-Setters into Tekkaman Sommer. They hope off their own ships, and start attacking Radam spidercrabs with ease. The spidercrabs retreat, but the Radam Tekkaman from before comes after Vesna and Sommer. The main from before gets a reaction, and a crystal symbol on his forehead glows. They get out of the way in time, and fire their Vol-Tekkers at the same time. They destroy the rider, but the Radam Tekkaman grabs onto both Vesna and Sommer, and wards off the three Blue-Earth Craft. Yumi watches in horror as she sees it trying to crush both Vesna and Sommer’s heads, but when Aki thinks about heading out, Yumi runs out and Tekk-Tekkers into Tekkaman Hiver. She manages to clumsily get onto Gamma, and tells Hayato to held out to help the others. Aki tries to tell Gamma otherwise, but finds her channel closed off. The Radam Tekkaman throws Vesna and Sommer away and tries to attack Hiver, but she doesn’t know how to create her lancer weapon. Gamma and Hiver dodge the attack, but start heading towards the three Radam ships. Yumi decides to use the Reactor Vol-Tekker, but Aki back on the main Blue-Earth ship can’t stand by and runs to gun control. Yumi fires the Reactor Vol-Tekker, and the beam tracks down the Radam Tekkaman, then tracks down the other Radam ships and destroys them. Hayato asks Yumi to stop the blast, but she tells him she doesn’t know how to. As Vesna and Sommer flee with their respective ships, the Reactor Vol-Tekker starts taking a chunk out of the Orbital Ring. Vesna and Sommer tell her to stop it, but while she’s arguing with them, Aki fires a small blast from the main ship to knock out Hiver, and the Reactor Vol-Tekker stops. Back at the Space Knights base, Yumi is informed that she’s temporarily suspended for disobeying orders, but when she says she just wanted to help, Natasha slaps her. She tells her that the Reactor Vol-Tekker was meant for her, and that by doing what she did, she has no right to be a Tekkaman. Later, Yumi is locked in her quarters for the time being, and cries about what Natasha told her. In the office where the man is in, Aki seems to be having a meeting with him, but then he gets another reaction, and his crystal symbol glows again. Back in space, the corpse of the Radam Tekkaman drifts away, and deeper into space, a new Radam fleet starts heading towards Earth.

Commentary

And here, we have the first episode of the second series. Yumi seems to be the likable character, who unfortunately seems to take A LOT of flak, especially from Natasha, who seems to disapprove of any mistakes. While Natasha is a person who is hard of people and goes by the book, David is just your normal playboy, and doesn’t seem to worry to much on things. Aki’s character has changed as well, and she seems to be now more of a person who goes by the book as well. I think it’s pretty obvious that the man Yumi ran into earlier IS in fact D-Boy, and the scar on his face and the crystal symbol on his forehead are dead give away. Hopefully Yumi won’t be too discouraged, as well still have five more episodes to go. An interesting episode we have to start with, probably not the best, but an interesting way to start.
