Summary

A voice asks Shinya if everything is going as expected. Shinya says yes, and the voice, which seems to be Omega, tells Shinya to be careful. Shinya agrees, and says that if anyone can kill him now, only his brother Takaya could. Shinya says it must be, and he heads to Earth. Inside a lively city in a large public building, D-Boy is in civilian clothing, sitting on a chair, thinking to himself. Images of his sister Miyuki and his brother Shinya appear in his head, but D-Boy is snapped out of it when Aki asks if there is anything wrong. She too, is also in civilian clothing, and comes up beside him with two cups of what looks like coffee in her hands. She sits next to him on his right side and tells him that it’s ok to relax. She hands him a cup, and D-Boy thanks her. Aki says that they only have until three (time) to rest, and she takes a sip of her coffee. A distance away, someone is walking to them, and they don’t know it. Aki says that in a few months, the city they’re in will be covered by Radam’s forest, and says that peaceful areas are slowly disappearing. D-Boy says that there is safe places on Earth now, and that there is no place to relax. The person who is walking towards them is still unnoticed, continuing the same pace. Aki apologizes to D-Boy, then says that they have no time to be relaxing. D-Boy leans forward, and says that they will not wait for them. Aki looks at D-Boy, and then D-Boy’s eyes go wide. D-Boy is about to say something, but Aki hears someone walking towards them and she looks up in surprise to see Shinya looking at them. Shinya looks at D-Boy, and says that it has been a while and that he looks well and that he’s relieved, calling him by his true name Takaya. D-Boy just looks at him, not showing any signs of emotion in him. Shinya asks if D-Boy lost any weight and bends down to look at D-Boy’s face. He sees the scar that runs down his left eye, and asks if Fritz did it. Shinya says it almost made him look like he was crying, and then D-Boy moves his hand away from his face. D-Boy asks if he is one of them too, but Shinya says he should already know that. Aki doesn’t hear D-Boy calling her name until her name is called a second time, as she was looking at Shinya in shock. D-Boy tells her to take as many people as she could, and leave. Aki asks if she has to run away, but Shinya says that it’s ok, and that it doesn’t matter. D-Boy tells Aki to run away, as he stands up and looks at Shinya. Aki finally gets up, and runs away from them. Sirens start to go off, as it can be heard all over the city. A short time later, D-Boy and Shinya are walking down a street, when Shinya asks D-Boy if he liked Amaryllis flowers. He says no, then says it was Miyuki. Shinya looks at the Radam plants and asks if these plants are much better, and asks D-Boy about the scent of Radam plants. D-Boy stops walking and asks Shinya if this is what he wanted to talk about, while Shinya walks a few more steps ahead of him before he stops to turn to look at him. Under Shinya’s black shirt, cracking sounds are heard, then the shape of Shinya’s crystal appears in the center of his chest. Suddenly Omega’s voice comes from the crystal and calls D-Boy by his true name, Takaya, and asks him if he has no intent to return to them. Omega says that it’s the strong that dominate the weak, and says that’s how it is. He says that human history reflects it, but D-Boy has his head down, not even looking at Shinya. Shinya says that Mankind this time has been dominated, that it would be ruled by Radam, and says that it’s survival of the fittest. D-Boy says that he is a human, then Shinya rolls his eyes down at him, and asks if he is human. Shinya asks where humans like them exist, then lifts his voice and tells Shinya to just accept that they weren’t human. Shinya says that the power of Radam, is strength, and looks at his own hand and asks D-Boy if that strength makes him crave bloodshed. To use the power to its full extent, and asks D-Boy if it does. He looks at D-Boy, and tells him he can’t defeat him as a human. D-Boy says he is human, and that he wants to now and forever continue to be a human, while shaking his fist in anger. Shinya smiles at him, and says then he must die then.

Shinya Tekk-Setters and his clothing rips away from him. D-Boy’s clothing too rips away; revealing his crystal embedded in his chest, as he Tekk-Sets. D-Boy’s body begins to mutate and change color, as his body starts to go white. His back opens up, and an organic substance digs into D-Boy’s body, and armor begins to form around him. The final few seconds end, and D-Boy is Tekkaman Blade. His armor is organic, as smoke slowly leaves his body, and he looks up at Shinya, who has become Tekkaman Evil, as his armor too is organic. Blade calls Evil by his normal name, as Evil stares at him from the top of a ruined building. Evil tells Blade that it suits him, and he charges at him. Blade jumps as Evil misses, and throws his weapon at Blade. Blade deflects it away, but Evil catches up to him in the air, and grabs Blade. Blade jabs his left hand into Evil’s chest, but isn’t able to stop him from firing his Vol-Tekka. Blade is blown away, as he smashes into the side of a building, and is stuck in the wreckage. A large crater is now in the middle of the city, as Blade looks at his arms, and sees that his armor from his elbow down start to melt away, and has blackened arms. Evil uses a hook in his left arm to grab his weapon again, and he asks Blade if that is everyone he’s got. Blade calls Evil by his normal name again, but Evil flies up to Blade, grabs him by his head, and starts dragging him down the side of the building. Evil tells Blade to behold the beauty of their armors strength and that it’s wonderful and he then drags Blade up the building. He lets go of Blade’s head, and he stops almost at the top level and still trapped in and can’t move, and is bleeding from the head. Evil just stares at Blade, as he jabs his lance into Blade’s stomach, watching the blood run along his weapon. He looks at Blade’s arms, then notices the armor regenerate. Evil is shocked, and is too late to avoid being grabbed by Blade. Blade pulls him up, and creates two half spears from his shoulders, one jabbing into Evil’s own stomach, and the other just above his chest, below his neck. Both start to struggle, as Evil shoves Blade through the building, and they both fly out the other end into another building. They pull their weapons out of each other, and start fighting. Blade blocks a strike from Evil, and flies up, shooting energy blades from his shoulders in which his spears came from. The building starts to collapse, and Blade flies out, throwing his spear into the building and firing more energy blades at it. The lower part of the building explodes, and Evil flies out of the wreckage, with Blade’s weapon in his stomach. They both stare at one another, both exhausted from their fighting. Evil tells his Blade that as his brother he is the best, and tells him that this is the way he always wanted to fight him. Evil pulls Blade’s weapon out of his stomach, and starts to charge up his back engines. D-Boy’s normal face is then shown, with blood dripping down his face. He’s breathing heavily, smiling, when he suddenly gasps and looks at his brother. He asks himself if Evil is right, and that he really is what he is. Evil looks at Blade, and tells him that to fight each other like this, they were destined for this, and with that he charges at Blade. Blade calls Evil by his name again, and stops his sentence by saying that they both desire. Blade grabs Evil by his left hand and uses his left hand to grab Evil by the throat, holding him in place. Blade’s Vol-Tekka pads open up, and D-Boy yells out the command to fire them. D-Boy and Shinya’s faces are seen again, as they are both smiling at one another, with blood dripping down their faces. Blade’s Vol-Tekka fires at point blank, as Blade and Evil disappear in the light and a section of the city around them is destroyed.

Commentary

Well, a recap of the D-Boy and Shinya’s first battle, but the way it’s done is original and certainly gasping. But when you look at the differences, it’s almost more of an original re-telling of the episode in a vastly different way. There are things missing, since D-Boy’s crystal isn’t shattered, there is no sign of Pegas at all. But also, a different group directed this special, which didn’t know too much about Tekkaman-Blade in general and it shows. The design for D-Boy and Shinya’s Tekkaman armor scream the name “Guyver” all over them, as they have many similar traits. The organic but tough armor, the huge amounts of damage they take, regeneration as well as their weapons. The violence appeared to have gone overboard, as I’ve never seen so much blood in Tekkaman-Blade before, even in one fight alone. Aside from the overkill, this was actually done well, as it recapped D-Boy and Shinya’s first encounter, but did it in a different style which makes it original. This isn’t the best retelling, but certainly isn’t the worst either, as it stands out for being unique, VERY unique.
