More Macross by Chris 10:56 P.M. EST
Today's update features some more Macross stuff, along with a slight style change. Ever since we took over the Mecha Domain in 2001, we've carried over the practice that profiles with multiple pictures don't get radio buttons until they're upgraded to Burke's All the World's format. However, yesterday's Macross update unleashed loads of new lineart. With multiple Valkyrie modes and color schemes, it's too unwieldy to scroll through all those pictures. So I've started converting all those profiles to have multi-row radio buttons for easier browsing. The Macross TV series has been converted, as has most of Macross Zero, which features a bunch of new Valkyrie lineart courtesy of MrMarch. Further updates of this type will be uncredited, unless new lineart is involved.

Patlabor: The Reboot by Chris 9:32 P.M. EST
There's a load of new updates to the Patlabor mecha section today. First, it's the newest section to join the ranks of those in the Burke's All the World's format. The new format kicks off with profiles for all the labors from the original Patlabor OVA directed by Mamoru Oshii. You'll also notice that profiles in the entire section have been split off, marked as "OVA version," "TV version," or "Movie version." Although there usually aren't any differences in the designs themselves, this is to distinguish between the TV continuity and OVA/Movie continuity. In addition to the profiles in the OVA section, there's a profile for the Ingram (Movie version) and Ingram (TV version). The Ingrams and many other units from the first two movies also feature new custom lineart courtesy of Silent_Knight_Gundam.

Next, if you live in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, you've probably heard of Yasumicon, which runs from August 11-12 at Florida International University's University Park campus. The free con's special guest this year is voice actor/comic artist Sonny Strait. Strait is probably best known as the voice of Krillin in Dragon Ball Z and as the original TOM from Toonami, but he's also appeared in shows such as Fullmetal Alchemist. MAHQ will again be present for its fifth annual mecha panel. The panel will take place at 5 P.M. Saturday in GC 150. This year, we'll be taking a lighthearted look at mecha cliches, which will be followed by a prize giveaway. Hope to see you there.
