#Mahq Channel Rules

Here are the rules for the #mahq IRC channel. They are subject to change at any moment so if you are kicked or banned please read them again. You may use them as a reference if you wish to bring into question the enforcement of a rule upon yourself or another chatter.

I. File Sharing
No file sharing allowed, unless done in private, this means:
i. No fserves (file servers).
ii. No advertising scripts.
iii. No asking for videos, games, music, or programs.
iv. No "!list." Typing !list will result in a temporary ban.

II. Language
The following rules concern the use of language in the channel:
i. Please speak English only. There are people that come into this channel from all over the world, and because English might be their second or third language, please refrain from making fun of people whose English skills are not as good as your own.
ii. Cussing is allowed as long as it isn't excessive and directed at an individual or group in an offensive or derogatory manner.
iii. Racial slurs are prohibited.

III. Conversations
Channel conversations should pertain to subjects related to anime, preferably mecha anime. If the conversation strays away from anime and mecha this shouldn't be a problem but the following topics should never be discussed unless they pertain to anime and mecha; they are too controversial and are likely to cause flaming:
i. Politics
ii. Religion
iii. Gender Roles
iv. Nationalism (i.e. my country is better then your country)
If you wish to converse about these subjects there are other channels that might accommodate your needs.

IV. Roleplaying
Roleplaying, or "rping", is discouraged but not prohibited as long as it doesn't interfere with legitimate conversation.

V. Scripts
Scripts are discouraged but not prohibited as long as they do not display annoying characteristics such as colors, underlining, bold type and other things that deviate from normal text type. ASCII art is prohibited as it is not only annoying but floods the channel as well.

VI. Ban-able Offenses
The following acts will result in an automatic ban from the channel:
i. Flooding (if you do it on accident that is ok but you will be warned)
ii. Spamming
iii. Being banned from the MAHQ forum
iv. Flaming
v. Being a Jackass

VII. Rule Enforcement and Channel Operators
The channel rules will be enforced at the discrepancy of the channel operators present. If you feel that a rule was not enforced when it should have been or that a rule has been enforced upon yourself unjustly then send a private message to an operator that is currently present or e-mail either Corben or Chris. If you become bothersome about such things you will be either ignored or expelled from the channel, so make sure that you have good reason to do so. If you wish to become an operator, DO NOT ASK TO BE AN OPERATOR. People that are candidates for being a channel operator are people that are well knowledged about mecha and can contribute to the channel in a meaningful manner. If we want you to be an operator we will ask you.
