What is The Gunion?

The Gunion is a parody web based newspaper that makes jokes, puns and cracks at various trends, clichés and ridiculousness in Mecha and Super Robot anime and cartoons such as Mobile Suit Gundam, Transformers and Voltron, with jabs at various aspects of fandom that relate to the typical anime otaku. Everything about The Gunion is satire, from the stories, to the ads to the logo.

Who writes the stories and makes all of this?

Ben Davis - Creator, Primary Writer, Designer, Web Designer.
The Gunion came into being as a part of Ben's search for a new way to speak on Mecha Anime following the conclusion of the Mecha Musings coloum on MAHQ.net. Having been a fan of Mecha since he was 5, Ben takes his excessive need to overanalyze and turns it into the funny stories they are today. Most of the stories and visuals of The Gunion are his creation.

Adam Weinberg - Writer, Content Developer.
Adam had been helping Ben refine his content and improve his stories since Mecha Musings began in early 2005. A talented writer in his own right, he has helped Ben push The Gunion to be the best it can be, either through written contributions or story development.

Chris Guanche - Editor, Content Developer, Owner - MAHQ.net
Having hosted one of the most comprehensive websites on Mecha in existence for more than half a decade, Chris still finds enough time to edit and contribute story ideas and edit new content for The Gunion.

J.F.Fox - Comic Artist - Amuro's Space Adventures
Our newest addition, J.F.Fox is a lazy college student, handicapped by the twin terrors of stupidity and ineptitude. His favourite saying is *yawn*. Aiming for a high-paying and easy-to-find job after graduation, he's majoring in history--the one subject most likely to doom him to a life of squalor. He also makes a funny comic.

Wasn't the Gunion a monthly issue before?

At first the Gunion was intended to be a monthly feature on MAHQ, in a 2 page PDF format. However, after the second issue, We decided that a web based format gave The Gunion more flexibility and more regularity than a monthly downloadable. Starting in February 2007, The Gunion went from being a monthly feature to a regularly updated section of the MAHQ network.

Why isn't ________ series included in The Gunion?

It's very possible we aren't aware of a given series, or that there simply isn't anything funny enough to write about. There's also the possibility that we simply ran out of space and it might appear in a future issue. You can feel free to bring the series to our attention by emailing us at thegunion@gmail.com

Some of the websites and phone numbers in The Gunion don't work.

In keeping with the spirit of modern day newspapers, most advertisements have a website listing on them; however, as with the rest of the paper, those websites are a satire and do not really exist.

This is a really cool project. How can I help?

Right now the best way you can help the Gunion grow is by helping publicize its existence. Post about new stories on message boards you visit, email your friends, etc. We are currently running a writing competition for people who would like to be published in The Gunion. You can find the details on the main page.

In addition, we're always open to hearing your feedback on features you would like to see in the future. You can either email us at thegunion@gmail.com or visit the Gunion feedback thread on Mechatalk.net.

The Gunion sucks! You slammed my favorite series!

If you don't like it, don't read it. We found it funny or it wouldn't be in there.
