CHURCH OF GUNDAM HOSTS CHARITY EVENT

January, 2007.

By Mah Huq, Freelance Correspondent

Miami, Fl. - In celebration of its 5-year-anniversary in America, the Church of Gundam held its first annual "Gunpla for the Homeless" charity event at their church at 79 Lagrange Pt. from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Church of Gundam, a relatively new member of the Miami community, has received a mixed response from local residents: some are excited to see a new, non-secular religious organization in the neighborhood, while others see them as a dangerous influence on children and young adults alike.

The charity event, sponsored by Bandai, Inc. is giving away over $50,000 in Gunpla plastic model figures to homeless children throughout the suburban Miami area. We caught up with the church's leader and director, Khliss Guu Aurrche to ask him a few questions about the event and got some very interesting insights into the Church of Gundam.

Khliss, Thank you for speaking to us. I suppose what many people want to know is, what exactly is the Church of Gundam?

KGA : Well Mah, It would be hard to explain in the short period of time we have, but the long story short is we are an optimistic cult preparing the youth of tomorrow for the future that is hidden by our mainstream media, especially our homeless children who have been denied the unalienable human right to Internet access.

MH : So what benefit do you feel giving out $50,000 in Gunpla models will accomplish to that end?

KGA : Well, knowing full well many of these kids might not see 25, we figure we should give them all the chances they can get to survive in the future, and what better way than teaching them the basics of mecha? Hey, they might not have a roof over their heads but at least they'll know a giant robot when they see one.

MH : I see. So you don't feel that spending that money on fewer individuals with something more useful like food, shelter or transportation is a better use of your time?

KGA : Look Mah, 80% of these kids aren't going to be around anyways once the colony drop happens. Me, I'm sure as hell not going to be here when that thing hits, but these kids are homeless and may not have any choice. We here at the Church of Gundam feel that giving as many people as possible a chance is the best way to help, and we think giving these poor kids some basic idea of what to expect is the best we can do. I apologize, but I need to get back to the event now.

Shortly after this event we received a call from Khliss asking us to come in and view a service at the Church of Gundam to give them a better level of exposure. Look forward to an extensive article on the inner working of the Church of Gundam in our next issue.
