LOCAL CONVENTION LOSES PUBLIC ATTENTION

Dallas, Texas - In what is possibly the strangest occurrence in the anime fan community a large number of visitors to one local Dallas cosplay and anime convention suddenly and unanimously realized how ridiculous they looked and abandoned their cosplay costumes en mass. Several individuals who had spent more than $500 creating elaborate costumes such as the RX-78 Gundam and various Transformers were willing to speak to us about this odd change of heart. Michael Obvious, 18, had this to say: "I just suddenly realized, dude, you just spent 3 car payments so you could dress up as a car, and I was like, oh man, that sucks."
While more than 80% of the cosplayers in attendance had this mass realization, the remaining attendees began to get verbal and violent at those who chose to abandon their works. We asked one man, who asked not to be named, what he thought of those leaving the convention. "These guys are a bunch of losers. You come out here and you join the cosplay community but once your in you can't just up and leave. It's a lifestyle, and we expect members of the community to have some level of commitment. Me, for example, I weight about 350, but I'm committed to continue cosplaying magical school girls regardless. I'm not some quitter."
We managed to get ahold of the couple running the event, who refused to be addressed by any names other than Char and Lalah. "We allow people to come here under the impression that they will maintain a level of cosplaying realism. We specifically dictate in the policies at the door that cosplayers should not associate with others as to spoil the mood of the convention. Those that have chosen to leave will not be welcome back at the next convention. They are as dead to us as the MS-01 Prototype."
Another former cosplayer came to speak with us as he was leaving the convention. "These people are nuts. I came here because I like to dress up in a costume from time to time and role play, but these people want to live in their own little worlds, and if you don't play along, you're out. I'm telling you man, it's not right."
