Attack of the Pizza by Chris 5:03 P.M. EST
With my convention time over, it's time to get back to regular updates. There's a whole bunch of updates today for the Code Geass mecha section. There's new lineart for many units, mostly from R2, and that lineart comes courtesy of Shori, Ashlay, ShadowCell, Dark Duel and asterphage. Some smaller weapons/part lineart is being held back for the next larger update. Also, several profiles are now available in Burke's format, courtesy of AmuroNT1. They are:

Akatsuki
Akatsuki Jikisan Type
RPI-212 Vincent
RPI-212A Vincent Commander Type
Shen-Hu
Type-02 Guren Mk-II Aerial Type
Type-3F Gekka Pre-Production Test Type
Z-01b Lancelot Club
Zangetsu

On a separate note, I'd like to thank everyone who came out to Yasumicon for the live recording of Gundamn! episode 18. I'm not sure when it will be out, as there's still the Comic-Con episode to get out first. If you'd like to read more about the event, there's this story at The Miami Herald, another one (with gallery) at The New Times, and a small photo gallery at Destructoid (see if you can spot me). We'll have our own photos up soon at Gundamn.net.

Yasumicon Info by Chris 10:53 A.M. EST
If you're going to be attending Yasumicon, here's the information for the Gundamn! live panel. As it usually does, Yasumicon will take place at the University Park Campus of Florida International University. The podcast recording will take place Saturday from 2:00 P.M. - 4:15 P.M. in GC (Graham Center) 150. If you've been to the convention before, it's the same room where we've had MAHQ panels previously. Although it's not mecha related, I'll be part of a One Piece panel in the same room from 5:45 P.M. - 7:45 P.M. Also, on Sunday I'll be part of a panel on 1980s anime (which is mecha related) from 1:30 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. in panel room 2. On the last bit of Yasumicon news, congratulations to the winners of the VIP contest.

On a separate note, there's some new Macross Frontier lineart for the RVF-25 "Super" Messiah, VF-25G Messiah and VF-25G "Super" Messiah courtesy of crashandburn.

Gundamn! @ San Diego Comic Con by Chris 4:44 P.M. EST
If you haven't been following the thread on the Mecha Talk forums, check it out for information on Gundamn!'s coverage of San Diego Comic Con. Adam and Paul are both on location on the con and have been blogging and podcasting daily from the show. You can see photo albums and hear the first mini-podcast here. After the convention is over, the mini-podcasts will be edited together to form episode 14, which will also include recordings of several panels, an interview with Gundam expert Mark Simmons and more. Next week, Adam and Paul will join me in Miami for Yasumicon and our live recording of episode 18. Specific location and time information will be posted soon.

Yasumicon VIP Reminder by Chris 1:00 P.M. EST
I hadn't explicitly mentioned it in the previous post, but time is running out if you're interested in getting a VIP pass for Yasumicon. Please see the July 14 post for instructions on what to do. I'll still be accepting any entries that are postmarked BEFORE 12:00 A.M. Monday, July 28. After that deadline passes, winners will be contacted via e-mail.

Lineart Updates by Chris 9:08 P.M. EST
For the first update in quite awhile, there's a load of new lineart. First up, there's some new lineart in Macross Frontier for the Macross Quarter and Cheyenne II, courtesy of asterphage. Next, there's new stuff for FRAME ASTRAYS, with lineart for the Raigo Gundam and Speculum Raigo Gundam, courtesy of Nightwing03. There's also new lineart for Gundam 00, covering the 00 Gundam, Arios Gundam, Cherudim Gundam and Seravee Gundam, courtesy of Red Zaku. Finally, there's some Gundam Unicorn lineart for the Jesta courtesy of asterphage. Many have probably noticed that lineart updates for the past few months have mainly focused on 00, Frontier and Code Geass, to the exclusion of everything else. Unfortunately, it's going to stay this way for the foreseeable future. Covering two shows that are currently airing with a third about to start up is very demanding, both in anime reviews and mecha profiles. The burden should ease up once Frontier and R2 are over, but this is how it'll be for awhile.

On an unrelated note, the organizers of Yasumicon are making a special offer for fans of Gundamn! and MAHQ. I've got five VIP passes to give away to fans. If you're wondering what a VIP pass is, here's what it gets you:

-Premiere Entrance into the Dealer Room
-Premiere seating for our large events
-Premiere front row seating for our performances
-Entry into our Friday Night Pre Registration Party (Free of Charge)
-Fastlane Autograph Signing
-Access to our Staff Cafe (Three free meals for both Saturday and Sunday)
-Free Yasumicon Goodie Bag

For practical purposes, this is obviously limited to people who live in South Florida or will be in South Florida for Yasumicon. And in the interest of fairness, it's not open to any MAHQ reviewers or Mecha Talk moderators. If you want to get the passes, here's what you do. Send me an e-mail with "Yasumicon" in the subject line and your real name in the message body. I will randomly pick five winners, who will receive notification via e-mail. Winners will pick up their passes at the convention.

Gundamn! News by Chris 10:38 P.M. EST
This is basically just a news post regarding the podcast, but there's a lot of stuff to cover. First, the URL www.gundamn.net is finally live and directs to our blog, but you can still reach it via gundamnmahq.blogspot.com. Second, we'll be doing a live call in session when we record episode 17 next Sunday. At 2:00 P.M. EST, you can log on to Skype and call username shinjuku-station to get on the line with us. It'll pretty much be an open line session like a live radio show, so you can call in and ask us a question about anything or make a comment. Next, although I won't be there, Adam and Paul will be going to the San Diego Comic Con, which runs from the 24th - 27th. Say hello if you run into them. They'll be doing short daily podcasts from the show, which when edited together will become the lost episode 14. Finally, during the weekend of August 1-3, Adam and Paul will be joining me in Miami for our second live show, this time at Yasumicon. I'll be posting details on that later on.

In this episode, Peter joins our discussion of current mecha anime that we're watching, the state of the North American anime industry and the Gundam Round-up for Char's Counterattack.

Dynamite Explosion by Chris 12:29 A.M. EST
Well, it's finally over. The long project to re-review Macross 7 ends with today's update, which includes re-reviews and new screenshots for episodes 1-4 of the OVA Macross Dynamite 7. The review Averages page has also been updated to reflect new numbers. This also marks a milestone for the site in terms of reviewing speed - 33 reviews in 10 consecutive days. Given the amount of work that was involved in that, I'll be taking a break for at least a week. After that, it'll be back to the new stuff with more reviews for Macross Frontier and Code Geass R2.

June 19, 2008

The Beauty of Re-reviewing by Chris 9:53 P.M. EST
Continuing along the same line from yesterday's update, today's features re-reviews and new screenshots for episodes 28-30 of Macross 7. Also, episode 15 of Gundamn! is now available, so as always you can download the regular or unplugged version, and check the episode's thread for show notes. If you're wondering why this is episode 15 and not 14, well, that's a long story...

June 17, 2008

Song Power by Chris 11:10 P.M. EST
Picking up this project after some time off, today I've got re-reviews and new screenshots for episodes 25-27 of Macross 7. Since it's Tuesday, that means it's also time for the Mailbag.

June 15, 2008

Zero Frontier by Chris 1:12 A.M. EST
Since there's no episode of Macross Frontier airing this week, it's the opportune time to catch up on reviews, so I've covered episodes 8-10. There's also quite a few updates to the Frontier mecha section, with lineart courtesy of crashandburn.

June 10, 2008

An Unwelcome Update by Chris 10:35 A.M. EST
Since almost the beginning of this site, Mark Rinkinen, aka Mark064, has been a regular fixture, whether it's providing lineart, specs or episode reviews. Earlier this week, his house was destroyed in a fire. Although Mark and his mother are safe, they are in great need right now. I've donated some money to him via Paypal, and if you're able to help in any way, monetary or otherwise, please do. Mark has done so much for MAHQ over the years, so it's time for us to give back and help him out during this difficult time. For more information, please read this thread.

An Actual Update by Chris 9:22 P.M. EST
After an unexpected computer upgrade and the delays that come with that, I'm finally able to update again. It's pretty light today, but there's a new edition of the Mailbag. As always, please continue to send in more questions via the usual methods.
