 Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY In 2002, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED premiered on Japanese TV and was followed by the companion side story Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY. Written by Tomohiro Chiba of Studio Orphee, the ASTRAY series follows along with the story of the TV series, but it featured its own original story and characters. Unlike other side stories, the first ASTRAY story was split into three parts: two manga series (ASTRAY and ASTRAY R) and a novel (ASTRAY B). There are also three sequels: X ASTRAY, DESTINY ASTRAY and Δ ASTRAY. The first three ASTRAY series follow the continuing adventures of Junk Guild member Lowe Guele and Serpent Tail mercenary Gai Murakumo. X ASTRAY switches the focus to Canard Pars, a failed Ultimate Coordinator who is looking for revenge on Gundam SEED star Kira Yamato. DESTINY ASTRAY focuses on Jess Rabble, a journalist who is always searching for the truth. DELTA ASTRAY picks up after the end of DESTINY ASTRAY and focuses on new characters from Mars. The latest series, FRAME ASTRAYS, focuses on Gai during the DESTINY TV series. The ASTRAY, ASTRAY R and X ASTRAY series are available in the U.S. from TOKYOPOP, but the others aren't.
