Aside
from the plethora of Gundam anime, there is also a large
amount of manga. Much of it entails anime and game adaptations,
but there are also a large number of side stories. Countless series
have been published in Japan since the debut of the original series,
but only a few have managed to reach the U.S. so far. The Gundam
manga franchise was kicked off in the U.S. with Viz's Gundam
0079 and TOKYOPOP's Gundam Wing and Blue Destiny.
Since then, several more series have been published, including the
G Gundam adaptation, the Gundam Wing side stories
and the original series retelling The Origin. In 2004, Del Rey became the newest Gundam publisher in the U.S. with their release of the Gundam SEED TV adaptation. The newest U.S. Gundam releases include TOKYOPOP's Ecole du Ciel.
