Mobile Suit Gundam

The classic story of Mobile Suit Gundam has been retold in many formats, be it the compilation trilogy, novels, manga or video games. Following the cancelation of the TV series in 1980, creator Yoshiyuki Tomino wrote a trilogy of novels offering a dramatically different storyline. The series has been adapted into manga twice to produce two distinct products. The first adaptation is 1994's Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 by Kazuhisa Kondo, which includes elements from both the TV series and the movie trilogy. The other adaptation is Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's 2001 series Gundam: The Origin, a complete re-telling of the story that on some occasions is a drastic departure from the original story. The Gundam novels are back in print in a single volume from Stone Bridge Press, while Gundam 0079 and The Origin are published by Viz.
