Technical and Historical Notes

Celestial Being’s GN-002 Gundam Dynames is a third generation long-range combat suit based on the second generation GNY-002 Gundam Sadalsuud. The Gundam Dynames can be equipped with various guns and rifles depending on the mission’s needs. When sniping, the head’s v-fin lowers to reveal a hidden camera. During this time, the suit’s defensive systems are managed by robotic assistant Haro to allow Gundam Meister Lockon Stratos to focus on sniping. The Gundam Dynames’ main weapon is its GN Sniper Rifle, which has a low rate of fire, but with the help of powerful sensors has an extremely long firing range. The weapon is operated through a rifle-shaped controller in the cockpit to take advantage of Lockon’s marksmanship skills. The optional GN Beam Pistols can be used in missions where the large GN sniper rifle is unsuitable. Because of their small size, the pistols have smaller GN Condensers and consequently lower power and range than the rifle.

Although the Gundam Dynames is intended to stay away from close combat, it carries a pair of GN Beam Sabers to defend itself should the need arise. The suit also carries a stock of GN Missiles for attacking large groups of enemies. After hitting the target, the missiles release stored GN particles to destroy the target from inside out. A GN Shield made of E-Carbon is mounted on the left shoulder since both hands are needed for the sniper rifle. The Haro-controlled GN Full Shield offers additional protection but is not initially equipped due to development issues. Like other Gundams, the Gundam Dynames is capable of using the Trans-Am System, which releases highly compressed GN particles to increase speed and combat capabilities. In this case, the system also improves the suit’s sensor system, granting increased targeting accuracy. Lockon (real name Neil Dylandy) provides fire support for his fellow Meisters in many interventions, but he’s consumed by a desire for revenge over the death of his family at the hands of terrorist Ali al-Saachez. In 2308, Lockon dies while fighting Ali’s GNW-002 Gundam Throne Drei, but before that he directs Haro to return the heavily damaged Gundam Dynames to the Ptolemaios to safeguard its GN Drive. Later on, the suit is repaired and kept in reserve service as the GN-002RE Gundam Dynames Repair. The Gundam Dynames’ long-range combat role is continued by its successor, the GN-006 Cherudim Gundam.
