Appearing in the final portion of the One Year War, the RGM-79C GM Kai is an improved version of one of the Earth Federation's first mass production mobile suits, the RGM-79[E] GM Precession Type. Though it is similar to the original GM Precession Type in its armament and abilities, it features greatly improved thruster acceleration and maneuverability. The "C-type" GM remains the standard mass-production frontline unit for the Federation until the introduction of the RGM-79R GM II several years later. After Operation Stardust, the Titans create a variant unit, the RGM-79CR GM Kai High Mobility Type, which is further modified into the RGM-79SR GM Sniper III.
