Technical
and Historical Notes
The GAT-04 Windam is the Earth Alliance's newest mass production mobile suit and is the successor to the earlier model GAT-02L2 Dagger L. The improved Windam shares some armaments with the Dagger L, including the vulcan guns, beam sabers and anti-armor penetrator. The Windam's other armament is a new style beam rifle. Like the Dagger L, the Windam can also be equipped with the AQM/E-A4E1 Jet Striker pack for atmospheric flight, as well as the heavy artillery AQM/E-M11 Doppelhorn Striker pack. The Windam makes its debut in October C.E. 73 following the "Break the World" incident in which a group of extremist Coordinators drop the remains the PLANT Junius Seven onto Earth and cause serious damage. Following its debut, the Windam slowly replaces the Dagger L in space and at the Alliance's terrestrial bases. A custom colored version is used by ace pilot Neo Roanoke (aka Mu La Flaga) during his pursuit of the ZAFT battleship Minerva on Earth.
