Technical and Historical Notes

As part of its testing duties, the Titans Test Team conducts functional testing of various optional weapons and equipment. Among these is the "high mobility backpack," an enhanced version of the backpack used by the YRMS-106 Hizack Pre-Production Type, which was meant to be tested for compatibility with the GM series. The high mobility backpack contains a more powerful generator than the standard RMS-106 Hizack backpack, and the mobile suit's legs are fitted with the same thruster units used by the RGM-86R GM III. However, after the formal adoption of the Hizack, the production of this new machine was given priority and the development and testing of the enhanced backpack were postponed. Once production of the Hizack was under way, the backpack enhancement plan was reactivated and a prototype model was assigned to the Titans Test Team. The unit is armed with a prototype beam launcher and a RMS-117 Galbaldy β extendable shield with two spare beam launcher barrels attached. Testing of a prototype beam launcher is also in progress at this point, and due to their generally satisfactory test results these devices are later adopted in the RMS-106CS Hizack Custom.
