Technical and Historical Notes
The Jupiter Empire's primary mobile suit, the EMS-06 Batara focused
mainly on getting the most out of the unit. To that end, it featured a
construction that was simple but at the same time open to many
customizations and variations. Unfortunately, this meant that the
Batara mounted no built-in weapons, instead featuring a wide variety of
hand-held weapons. Still, each and every part of the Batara was
designed to produce a myriad of variations. Other than these basic
features, the Batara was in no way superior to any of its
contemporaries fielded by the Earth Federation Forces. One notable
feature of the Batara was the ability to retract its lower legs into
its body while flying. Since it lacked the firepower needed to take on
the Jupiter Empire, the second Crossbone Vanguard would capture and
repair many Batara for its own use. One unit was painted red and
piloted by Jupiter Empire ace pilot Barnes Gernsback, but was severely
damaged during a battle with the Crossbone Vanguard. Based on his
experience, Barnes would be reassigned to a new machine made
specifically for battling the Crossbone Gundams: the EMS-VSX3 Totuga.
