Technical and Historical Notes
Like most of the Jupiter Empire's mobile suits, the EMS-10 Pez Batara was a
variation of the EMS-06 Batara. The Pez Batara was intended as an
anti-warship mobile suit. As its name implies, though, the Pez Batara
is more closely related to the Batara than the Empire's other mobile
suits. Though it mounts the Batara's arms and legs, the rest of its
body is different. The Pez Batara's main body mounts a set of beam
generators along its centerline, allowing it to create a powerful beam
axe. The preferred tactic for anti-ship combat was to ignite the beam
axe, then charge bodily into the enemy battleship. However, this was
the Pez Batara's only melee weapon, leaving it at a disadvantage when
fighting other mobile suits. Further, the Pez Batara had a huge blind
spot on either side of its body, as it would have a hard time reacting
to attacks from its sides fast enough. Despite these shortcomings, the
Pez Batara was commonly used by the Jupiter Empire as well as the
Crossbone Vanguard, which would salvage enemy mobile suits to fill
their ranks.
