Technical and Historical Notes

The XM-X1 (F97) Crossbone Gundam X1 is badly damaged after a fierce battle with the Jupiter Empire's Death Gale Team. During its repair, the Crossbone Vanguard engineers take the opportunity to give the machine a slight upgrade as well. This change consists primarily of the addition of the screw whip, stored on the rear skirt armor. Designed to counter the reach advantage possessed by the EMS-VSX1 Quavarze and its snake hands, the screw whips are not as powerful as the snake hands but are still effective weapons. However, the scissor anchors of the original X1 have to be removed as the storage space for their chains is needed to house the whips. The X-1 Kai serves Kincaid for the remainder of the Jupiter Conflict, and upon his retirement he hands the machine to Tobia Arronax, who further upgrades it into the Skull Heart.
