Technical and Historical Notes

The second Gundam F90 test unit, captured near Side 4 by the Oldsmobile Army in October UC 0120, was taken back to these Zeon remnants' Mars base to be refurbished for their own uses. The overhauled model was redesignated OMS-90R Gundam F90 (also known as the "Mars Zeon Type F90," and it only vaguely resembled its original form, being painted in a striking red-orange-on-white scheme. The Mars Zeon F90 did not have as many external hardpoints as the original Federation F90, as none of the Gundam F90's optional mission packs and equipment were captured, and the Oldsmobile Army wanted their prize to be a simple, high-performance unit. The new F90 also sported more vernier thrusters, making it much more agile and maneuverable in close combat. This would give the Mars Zeon F90 a considerable advantage when it finally faced off against the Federation Forces' remaining original Gundam F90 deep inside the Oldsmobile Army's Mars base. The Mars Zeon F90 would end up delivering considerable damage to the Federation F90, but in the end it would be defeated. The Mars Zeon F90's remains were recovered by the Federation Forces, and their SNRI (Strategic Naval Research Institute) would rebuild the unit into the even-more-improved Gundam F90II.
