Technical and Historical Notes

Developed at the Zeon asteroid base Axis, the Neue Ziel II was intended to be the successor to the AMX-002 (AMA-X2) Neue Ziel, piloted by Anavel Gato during Operation Stardust in UC 0083. Based off a similar body frame, the Neue Ziel II replaced the original's half control system with a full psycommu system and funnels. Though the Neue Ziel II featured less weapons overall than its predecessor, the funnels gave it the ability to perform a true all-range attack. Its other weapons consisted of folding claw arms that mounted mega particle guns and beam sabers, a pair of 80 millimeter vulcans, and a set of missile launchers. Additionally, the Neue Ziel II was painted red since it was intended to be used by the legendary Char Aznable. While it was developed in the first part of the Gryps Conflict, the Neue Ziel II's development was cancelled due to its high production costs and the fact that the availability of a Newtype pilot was not ensured.
