Technical and Historical Notes

Based on data taken from the Principality of Zeon's old YMS-15 Gyan, the MS-15K Gyan Kai could be considered a prototype for the later AMX-104 R-Jarja. Keeping with the Gyan's theme of powerful close combat, the Gyan Kai's primary weapon was a lance-like sword. When in use, the leaves on either side of its blade would spread out, revealing a set of beam emitters lining the blade. This gave the Gyan Kai's melee attacks extra weight, allowing it to hit harder. Its only other weapon was a shield which, like the original Gyan, was packed full of myriad needle missile launchers. Though the Gyan Kai's performance was actually superior to the AMX-107 Bawoo, which was developed simultaneously. In spite of this, the Gyan Kai's limited focus and difficulty of control caused it to be passed over for mass production.
