Technical and Historical Notes

The Dopp is the Principality of Zeon's atmospheric fighter that makes its debut in the early stages of the One Year War following the invasion and occupation of Earth. The Dopp is frequently assigned to escort and patrol duty, but also used to engage ground-based targets. Although Zeon has an advantage through the introduction of the mobile suit, the Earth Federation Forces possess an air force capable of countering the Dopp. The Dopp is armed with a pair of 20mm vulcan guns housed in the same area as the 6-tube missile launchers. Earth Attack Force Commander Garma Zabi prefers to sortie into combat with a custom colored Dopp rather than a mobile suit. After the war ends, Dopps remain in service with Earth-based Zeon remnants. In UC 0090, multiple Dopps are in use with the PMC Themis. Decades later, the Dopp serves as the inspiration for another fighter from an invading space force: the Zanscare Empire's Overhead Hawk.
