Technical and Historical Notes

The RGM-79U GM Sloep is one of several quickly devised amphibious mobile suit designs created by the Earth Federation Forces. A standard RGM-79 GM serves as the base for the Sloep, modified with some waterproofing and the addition of hydrojet engines and ballast tanks. Because the GM lacks built-in underwater sensors, it is equipped with a periscope-style sensor pod and a hand sonar gun. The GM Sloep rolls out in November UC 0079, and two units are reserved for data collection to develop new mobile suits. Ultimately, the EFF decides on the RAG-79 Aqua GM as its main amphibious mobile suit. After the One Year War, most Sloep units are converted back to regular GMs.
