The Mongoose was created in the UC 0050's to serve as a heavy ground support aircraft for the Federation Forces. Though designed for a tank-busting role, the use of a large cannon as opposed to guided weapons limited the Mongoose to engaging slow-moving or stationary ground targets, and it took heavy losses against the Principality of Zeon's MS-06F Zaku II and HT-01B Magella Attack forces. Much of the technology used in this outdated aircraft dated from the previous century, further handicapping it in the age of mobile suit warfare and Minovsky particles.
