During the One Year War, it was common for high-ranking officers and ace pilots to keep and operate personal customized mobile suits on the front lines. One such customized unit was the MS-07B Gouf belonging to Colonel M'quve, commander of the Principality of Zeon's Odessa mining base in Europe on Earth. Decorated with ornate markings and engravings, his trademark "spearhead" antenna would be carried over into the design of the YMS-15 Gyan, a mobile suit M'quve helped to personally develop.
