Technical and Historical Notes

Zeon's ground-model MS-07B Gouf mobile suit, intended to be a replacement for the aging MS-06J Zaku II, proved to be somewhat of a problem when it came to armament. Whereas the Zaku II could rely on a wide variety of hand armaments depending on the mission, the Gouf was limited by its permanently-mounted tentacle heat rod and 75mm machine gun hand. To overcome this, the Zeon military developed several mission-specific Gouf variants to operate on different fronts of the One Year War. One of these variants was the MS-06C-3 Gouf Heavy Arms Type, employed primarily in Europe. The old heat rod and single 75mm machine gun hand was replaced by a heavier 85mm machine gun hand on both arms, fed by large-capacity ammunition clips, with spare clips carried on the hips as replacements. These were supplemented by a 30 mm machine gun in the forehead for close-range firepower, and extra thrusters were added to the legs to help it overcome the additional weight of its new weapons.
