Technical and Historical Notes

During the first Earth Alliance/ZAFT War of C.E. 70-71, the Alliance is slow to introduce mobile suits as replacements for the aging mobile armor TS-MA2 Moebius. Even after the developing their own mobile suits, the Alliance continues to experiment with mobile armor designs, such as the YMAF-X6BD Zamza-Zah. The crab-like Zamza-Zah dwarfs the fighter-like Moebius and is operated by one pilot and two gunners. The Zamza-Zah is heavily armed with a wide array of weapons, including four energy cannons, four claw-like hyper-oscillation crushers, four cannons, four low-pressure guns and 16 CIWS guns. In addition to these armaments, the Zamza-Zah is also equipped with a powerful positron deflector shield, capable of blocking a direct shot from a battleship-level positron cannon.

In late C.E. 73, the Alliance deploys a Zamza-Zah unit to attack the ZAFT battleship Minerva after it left the territorial waters of the Orb Union. The Zamza-Zah was ultimately destroyed at close range with a beam saber attack from Shinn Asuka's ZGMF-X56S/α Force Impulse Gundam. Months later, the Alliance would deploy more Zamza-Zah units at their Daedalus lunar base and near the Requiem cannon's Fauré relay station.
