The Drake class is one of two main battleship types used by the Earth Alliance during the war with ZAFT. These lightly armed vessels are equipped with two vulcan cannons and several torpedo and missile launchers. Due to its small size, Drake class ships do not feature interior hangars for the TS-MA2 Moebius mobile armor. Instead, the Moebius units are strapped to the outer hull. Later on in the war, this same limitation requires that the Alliance's first mass production mobile suit GAT-01 Strike Dagger be stored in the same manner. Because of its light armament, the Drake class is a soft target that can easily be destroyed by a single mobile suit. After the war, the Alliance refits the Drake class with external mobile suit launch decks.
