Technical and Historical Notes

Late during the Bloody Valentine War, a new faction emerged consisting of supporters of Lacus Clyne, the remaining Orb forces and the rebel Earth Alliance battleship Archangel. To fight both armies, this new faction needs as many mobile suits as it could get. One such unit was the MBF-02 Strike Rouge, which was built completely from spare parts for the original GAT-X105 Strike Gundam stored on the battleship Kusanagi. The Strike Rouge was nearly identical to the original Strike Gundam, but it did have some differences. The Strike Rouge featured a battery extender to extend its use of Phase Shift armor, and this extender shifted the unit's colors to a pink scheme. It also featured the Natural use OS developed by Kira Yamato, along with a pilot-assisting computer AI system. The Strike Rouge was deployed near the war's end in September C.E. 71 and was used by former FX-550 Sky Grasper pilot Cagalli Yula Athha. Although Cagalli used the Strike Rouge for a limited time, she rescued Athrun Zala when he planned to self-detonate his ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam to destroy the doomsday laser GENESIS. Following the destruction of the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam in late C.E. 73, Kira used the Strike Rouge to travel to space and defend the Eternal from a ZAFT attack. The Strike Rouge's color scheme was shifted back to that of the original Strike Gundam, and its specs were changed back to Kira's custom settings. Although Kira reached the Eternal in time, the aging Strike Rouge was no match for ZAFT's newest suits and was heavily damaged in battle.
